  1. So no win for Pedro. Oh well, he knew what he was getting into when he left for the Mets.
  2. I'm tired of all the fights just as much as the next guy, but hand shakes are so gay. Plus, who would want to shake Posada's piss-soaked hands?
  3. ahahaha. This could get funny real fast. I for one have not been affected, but I appreciate the effort you guys are making to clean this up.
  4. I tend to agree on the .406 remark, but if there's one player that could do it, it's Ichiro. Especially if Seattle sucks and he gets less at bats.
  5. But Jeter looks like he wants to Cowboy Up on him http://bellsouthpwp.net/c/h/chinigor/talksox/si.gif
  6. Done deal according to mlb.com "After months of speculation, Sox general manager Theo Epstein officially unloaded Kim on Wednesday, dealing him to the Rockies for catcher Charles Johnson and minor league left-hander Chris Narveson. However, Johnson won't play a game for the Red Sox. Upon making the transaction, the Sox designated Johnson for assignment and then released him. Johnson is expected to wind up with the Devil Rays by early next week. " I guess at one time Chris Narveson was a high prospect but injuries have sidelined him. http://www.thebaseballcube.com/players/chris_narveson.shtml
  7. I think he means the type. Like when you go to preview a post it looks like this: I'm Yeszir. I have girly hands. It's also that way under some thread views. It is annoying.
  8. How's he doing this spring? Only batting like .440, slugging .880, 6 HRs (more than Ortiz), 22 hits, 44 TB and 15 RBI. Yeah, the guy sucks.
  9. Yeah, after the All-Star break, Arroyo was 7-2, 3.97 era.
  10. Ahh, you graduated from drinking to pot smoking. Now you're into chill pills? Where does it end? :dunno:
  11. Other than the Yankees choking last year, no.
  12. Fine by me, john. Here. http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B0000VCZ5W.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg
  13. No, you're right. If I went to the Dominican and worked there for 15 years, made millions and millions of dollars by using corked bats and taking illegal drugs, then I'd find no real reason to learn the language. If ever asked about my integrity, I'd just hire someone to read my remarks for me and look like someone was sticking their finger up my ass when they asked me a simple question.
  14. I liked Big Mac until the hearing. I knew he did the roids, but after the emotional opening statement, he basically acted like a prick. His responses were sarcastic and he offered absolutely nothing. It was like me in a meeting at work... Sosa, who I have nothing against, came across as borderline retarded. He said whatever the rest of the panel said but in broken English. Canseco - as much as I hate this ass - probably was the most honest in his opinions (not facts, but opinions). At least I agreed with some of what he said. Palmeiro to me came across the best. He basically said numerous times that "whatever you want me to do, I'll do". I think he's gay by the way. He looks like a member of the Village People.:dunno: I was almost ready for him to break into "Macho Man" and pull out the cowboy hat. Schilling disappointed me greatly. He turned into a tool for MLB. While it makes some sense he came out defending the Union, the agreement and even the owners, his admission that he was completely wrong with his previous statements about the percentage of players on steroids sounds absurd. He spoke of the 5-7% who tested positive in 2003 as fact, though later explained in a roundabout way that this percentage was what reopened the basic agreement. The number, of course, was probably much higher than that. And true to form, for every valid point he made, he made a stupid remark to nullify it or look like a dork that can't shut up. Oh well, at least he made the point that the Red Sox were the "World Champion Boston Red Sox" right off the bat in his opening statement. Something else that hit me: Selig comes across as a fool most of the time and Fehr comes across looking less like the dick I imagined. The remarks from the spanish guy (from Baltimore or Florida?) near the end was probably the best statement by the panel. The fat chick from CA in the front had the best questions. The guy from Mass did a good job too. I do not think that the players should be banned for past actions. They were allowed by both MLB and the union to do what they did. I really think that both Selig and Fehr should be fired instead. Why has nobody suggested this yet??? I think new leadership in baseball for both sides is the way to go.
  15. Wow, I just heard something on the Gammons page... MLB was trying to keep Congress from getting the drug testing files because if any of the names of the players who failed is leaked to the media, then the collective bargaining agreement is gone - null and void. That would mean I assume, gulp, a stoppage of play. Damn. I didn't know that. It also makes the Union look that much worse. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/gammons/index
  16. How is Wells a question? He's been healthy all spring.
  17. Well, Thursday is the big day. The guys on EEI during and after the game today had me a little worried. They seem to think that Congress got pissed when the players didn't agree to show up the first time, and that Congress may try and stick it to the players in the hearing. It could get pretty interesting. I'm going to record it while I'm at work. I still think (hope) Schilling really has nothing to worry about.
  18. Crazy! (sorry, I'm smellin' that thousand posts... )
  19. This was expected. No? How many starts have Schilling, Wells and Miller made? Just 1. And Foulke's been in one game. Spring training is nothing. Right now it's about getting people ready. About getting people healthy. About getting people on Queer Eye. Only 2 more weeks!
  20. The pressure comes from putting up those numbers and being able to manage the media at the same time. When he first came up he had Roger, Mo and then Pedro to be "the stars" of the team. When the burden fell upon him to produce and be the star (once pedro's star started to fade), he blew it. Maybe pressure is too strong a word. But the "expectation" of home grown tallent is too much in Boston. We all expect really good prospects, like Hanley, to be the next Williams, Yaz, Greenwell, Rice, Nomar, etc - because if they are not, why keep them? Why invest the time? As fans we love them, but the media will tear them up if they don't turn out. As they did with Nomar even though he was injured. The place is just tough for young players.
  21. Well, I can't sit here an say that having a prospect pan out over 5 years is more important that winning, can I?
  22. I don't think Renteria will dissapoint at all. I think he'll be much better at Fenway than any of you think. But yeah, I hear you.
  23. I hate to say it, but no. If he didn't grow up in a Sox uniform and was coming here at 31 instead of leaving, I think he'd have enjoyed playing in Boston even more. He was awesome, but in the end it all got to him. I think the pressure in Boston is terrible for a young guy to deal with - at least it used to be. Here's to all that pressure being gone now. I hope anyway.
  24. So then, *if* Damon can produce like 2004, what the hell do you do with Hanley?? Personally, I'd love for him to be at second or third. Actually, second because I hate bellhose. But that's just me. Mueller's days are numbered, but I don't see Hanley having any power against a third baseman we could probably get in a trade.
  25. I would hope the Sox focus on pitching with all 6 picks. We can go out and get almost any position player we want to pay for. They come in much cheaper than pitching. I would love it if the Sox went all pitching in this year's draft. Though I'm sure they'll go after more shortstops and firstbasemen.
