  2. f***ed if I know, but my point is that Ramirez has outstanding K-Rates, which lead me to believe there could be something there if he gets his s*** together. Believe me, I'm not jumping all over the Edwar bandwagon. I hope he's not on the playoff roster in the first round. I just think there's still potential there for a very good reliever. If he gets command of his fastball and stops walking hitters, he can do well. His numbers this year were too good throughout the minors to be an abberation. His MLB strikeout rate is high enough to indicate some potential about the kid. I really don't know what the point is about Delcarmen. He's a much better and more consistent pitcher than Ramirez is? I don't see the correlation. The only reason to mention Ramirez' untouchabilty is his high strikeout rate, which he does in fact edge Delcarmen in. Ramirez strikes more guys out, but Delcarmen's been a better pitcher. If that's your point, nobody's disagreeing with you.
  3. Wang's numbers aren't good on the road, but he's capable of throwing a good game. If we're close and get to the bullpen we can take a game against CC. Pettitte, as inconsistent as he's been.. I'll take him in his first playoff game with the Yanks since the '03 World Series, without hesitation. The last game against Baltimore I really just throw out the window. It meant nothing to him or the team, and when he's locked in and focused in a pressure spot, he's an entirely different player. To me the key is the lefties getting on base and giving Rodriguez some at bats with men on. If the Cleveland pitchers are forced to throw him strikes, he's going to cause damage.
  4. 4 and 5 wins in each. Pretty bad.
  5. That'll come down to the owner. If Torre stays, don't be surprised if the Mets make a run at Girardi. That's a job he likely wouldn't turn down.
  6. When Good Ramirez pitches, he comes pretty close to being untouchable. 31 strikeouts in 21 innings is very good.

  8. The Mets are hysterical. I'm really expecting to have far fewer friends and a lot of funerals to go to by Monday. They have to win out and get some help. Unreal.
  9. I don't mind losing the game, division whatever. I can even live with Mariano pitching. What kills me, is that Vizcaino pitched. He's been complaining of a tired arm, so you throw him out there in a game that is absolutely meaningless. Give him the entire week before the playoffs to rest up, Torre. There is no need to tax his arm anymore. He better not even warm up until Game 1.
  10. That would be another 16 or so million off the books. Point taken, but that puts more money to use. Anyway. I think Chamberlain has far too much potential to be used in the bullpen next season. He's got the stuff and the makeup to be an absolutely dominant starter in the big leagues. I think someone like Ohlendorf would fit better in the bullpen should it come down to it. With all the options the Yankees have with their young pitchers, I think using one of the brightest in Chamberlain as anything but your ace starter is a complete waste.
  11. Motherf***ing playoffs! f***in a.
  12. Made a good run. Now just gear up for the playoffs. At least we'll have homefield in the World Series.
  13. If anybody can get their timing back quickly, it's Ramirez. The guy is one of the best hitters of our generation. That said, if he only goes 75%, he could be a huge problem for the Sox in the coming month.
  14. Torre's already said he isn't going to burn everyone out. This is pretty much a non-issue. That said, if they finish 2 games better than Boston down the stretch, they'll have the division on the tiebreaker. With the schedules, I think they might be able to both win the division and get everyone rest.
  15. Regarding last night, I thought Torre handled the bullpen about as well as you could. He gave the offense a ton of chances to get something done by using his relievers, they just couldn't finish it. I'm not worried about Torre 'going for it' and burning everyone out. On M&MD yesterday, he said that if Jeter or A-Rod would benefit from a day off he wouldn't hesitate to give it to them to prepare and be better for the postseason. If you don't use your best relievers yesterday, when are you going to use them? It's not like the playoffs start tomorrow. I love to criticize Torre, but I think he handled yesterday very well. Once you get to Brian Bruney, you should blame the offense for not capitalizing before that.
  16. f*** Holliday. He's killing me in the finals in my friend's fantasy league. 4 homers since Monday.
  17. No national broadcaster is worse than Joe Morgan.
  18. I don't think Manny bailed on the team. I think he was hopeful that he would be back quickly and downplayed the injury, but it's now worse than he originally thought. An oblique injury isn't something where he can just get a cortizone shot and f*** the consequences, ala Roger Clemens. That said, without Manny the last 2 weeks, those 2.5 games look awfully thin.
  19. Not for nothing, but Vin Scully's call in '86 was "Behind the bag, it gets through Buckner, here comes Knight and the Mets win it." Sure doesn't seem like Behind the Bag is a good user name for a "Sox" fan.

  21. Obviously the Yankees seem to play a little better against Cleveland than Anaheim. But really, let the chips fall where they may and play who they put on the schedule. I think it's about f***ing time we beat those guys in LA.
