    I have to say, I am quite impressed with this Chris Smith guy. I'll give him a freebee on that grand slam, he's been flawless since. And that strikeout right when he came in was filthy. Three sick breaking balls.

    Is this kid the real deal? After his start today, he's down to a 1.80 ERA, a WHIP below 1.00, 17 Ks to only 4 walks, and the only one of the Yankees rookies who's delivering. I haven't seen any of his games, but his numbers look decent...maybe he was a late-ish bloomer? Thoughts from someone who knows?

    I can't remember who brought it up, but someone proposed an additional "official" that sits up in a booth, and if there's ever a question of foul/fair, homerun or not, the umps can signal up to check, and the whole process would take less than a minute. Not a big disruption, and on these plays that can have a HUGE impact on a game's outcome, the correct call can be immediately made. I thought it sounded like a fantastic idea.

    I'm really not that impressed with Romero. It doesn't look like he's throwing too hard. He's none too deceptive. He could learn a thing or two from Dice K.
