  1. Sometimes I put my dumb in my ass. It gets weird.
  2. By the way, I'm pro keeping Fenway in tact.
  3. Well, there's somewhere around 10 million people in the Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts region of New England, and they are as devoted to the Red Sox as any other state is devoted to their team (ie, not everyone in Georgia is a Braves fan, but the clear majority are). Add half of Connecticut (1.7 million), and there are 11.7 million people who are somewhere in the region of Fenway. Let's say we had a 50,000 seat stadium. With 81 home games, there would be 4.05 million DIFFERENT seats to be filled over the course of a season. Currently, we have 3.23 million different seats to be filled. I bet they'd continue to sell out every game.
  4. It also has to do with the capacity at 38,928, and that includes the overpriced standing room. They sell out every game because all of New England wants to see the Red Sox.
  5. I can't quite put my finger on what my issue is with Holliday.... Home AB: 1256 Away AB: 1214 Home HR: 81 Away HR: 40 Home RBI: 294 Away RBI: 163 Home AVG: .365 Away AVG: .278 Home OBP: .429 Away OBP: .342 Home SLG: .664 Away SLG: .450 Home OPS: 1.093 Away OPS: .792
  6. Gammons rips Manny a new one on ESPN Insider:

  8. I assume he means Manny. EDIT: He posted it just before I did.
  9. I was going to guess "Joba the Chamberlain." But it's probably something more clever.
  10. From the espn rumor mill:
  11. The highlight of the game: 2 2/3 perfect innings, 3 K's, 27 pitches, 20 for strikes. He got out of that jam that buchholz left him. I was happy to watch him.
  12. THANK THE LORD FOR THAT.
  13. Masterson looked fantastic on those two K's.
  14. That pickoff was REALLY close. Like, probably not a pickoff.
  15. Also from Olney: Not surprisingly.
  16. Per Buster Olney today:
  17. Gosh, can't you post something substantial in a game thread? Jeez.
  18. He is having quite the statistical anomaly of a season right now. Here are some of the more impressive ones... Take away his one St. Louis start (1 IP, 7 ER) and he has an ERA of...2.00 even (well, 1.996). He is only giving up 0.73 hits per inning pitched. Imagine if he had his walks under control? He is currently walking 3.53 per start. He can't be touched on the road. Opponents are hitting just .158 against him. He buckles down in tight situations...opponents are hitting .133 against him w/2 outs RISP. Any other interesting ones people want to throw in?
  19. I went to bed after the seventh, I'm very happy I didn't stay up to have a heart attack in the eighth. That said, Dice-K looked fantastic for the first seven innings.
  20. Hoo-RAY!
  21. You know, JHB, you and I don't know each other well. But I've missed you and your posts in the last two weeks, so welcome back. I'm always blown away by how much you write in your posts, and how interesting it is.. Taking a step back and looking at this post, what I'm trying to say is...I have a mancrush on you. Just saying.
  22. Haha, I'll take it. Better than cringing when ANY OTHER RELIEVER comes in (Paps being the exception). This team is slowly killing me, though I say that every year.
  23. A less hostile post might look something along these lines: Coco Crisp is batting .476 in 21 career at bats vs Washburn. Youk is 5/10 against Washburn. Washburn sucks and is overpaid. Etc, etc. That being said, I'm excited for another west coast game, so now I don't have to watch a bullpen meltdown. although someone just posted (bosox?) in another forum that Masterson has been called back up, which is promising.
  24. From boston.com GREAT NEWS. I'm not getting too excited, but GREAT NEWS.
