  1. The game is at 7 pm on NESN (UPN I believe, or the other alternate channel since Bruins playoffs are on). It will be Lower pitching against Ainsworth, who, amid the no-name orioles pitching staff, is alright with a 3.75 career ERA. I still think the sox have it in the bag though. Just kidding, nothing is given.
  2. Remy said tickets were still availabe on TV, but maybe its too late now. Try ebay or something. Or you can always get 'em off the scalpers.
  3. Ok, but back to the topic at hand. What about the steroids and records? Opinions/thoughts?
  4. Arod was traded for soriano. If we trade kim for soriano, isnt that like trading kim for arod? Sounds like an unlikely deal to me. Texas won't trade soriano, and if they do, it will take a lot more than kim.
  5. In Grady We Trusted sounds like a good name to me. But I will definitely be seing this doctumentary whenever it comes out.
  6. On a scale from one to bad, that was a horrible thing to say. Just kidding, I do see your point, but we dont want ANY sox player to be hurt, especially Millar.
  7. Thats a great sign. Do it!
  8. ROY! Wow, that is damn impressive. But can he keep it up is the thing. What was the result of the walk to load the bases? Did runs score or did it "work"? But that is impressive, wow.
  9. Wow, its "I hate nomar" revisited. Who cares if hes a "whiny little bitch" really. He pitches AMAZINGLY! If we trade Pedro for what we'd most likely get for Pedro, the sox would not be anywhere NEAR as good as they are now. The whole reason everyone is back into "this is the year" mode is beacuse we have both pedro AND schilling, not just schilling. For years everyone's been complaining about "Pedro and pray for rain" but now that we have decent pitching its "trade pedro?"
  10. I'll be looking for the guy making an ass out of himself.
  11. You're attitude sure sounds like 'the sky is falling' to me But I do see the frustration, especially over Pedro, but we've come to expect things like that from him. I think, as a whole, RSN needs to focus more on his pitching rather than his off the field (or out of the stadium) actions. That goes for the rest of the team as well. It kind of detracts from the game. As for tito, his softness is something that can and will be fixed within a few weeks. But maybe, and I dont think people really think of this, a more open-minded manager is needed. Not stupid open minded like Grady Little, but sensible. Don't try to corrall manny, because you can't, and Pedro's ego is big enough to crush any manager. And injuries, well, we cant do anything about them. Just grit and bear it I guess.
  12. Why does Kim scare you? He has a 3.24 career ERA and a 1.16 WHIP, damn decent if you ask me. The main problem with him, looking at his stats, is that his performance sucks when there are runners in scoring position, which he often had as a closer. In Fenway part he has 36 strikeouts in 39 innings with a mid 3 ERA. Thats GREAT from a 5th starter. His k/9 innings alone is enough to show you that he has potential. Plus the fact that he's 25 and has already shown such promise is encouraging to me. Bronson on the other hand has pitched 204 innings with a 5.15 ERA, compared to Kim's 402 with a 3.24 ERA. He has twice the experience, and almost twice the performance ERA wise. Did Bronson pitch well last year? Sure he did, but in 6 games. 6 games is hardly enough to judge someone. I'd like to see him come out of the bullpen a little bit more to see if he can permanently be a starter, but for now I want kim. (But he's on the DL right now, so it'll be Bronson for a while). We'll see how he does though, I'm certainly not upset with Bronson pitching.
  13. I'd MUCH rather have BK than Bronson. BK has proved that he is and will be excellent as a starter. Bronson on the other hand has shown signs of decency, but has yet to really have a chance to show his stuff. BK's head is in the game, his image is marred by the World Series meltdowns he had in 2001. People just need to realize that he WILL excel as a starter eventually. I still say he was justified in flipping everyone off.
  14. Oh, I agree. On a team now I'd much rather have Pujols than Bonds, but I think most anyone would (except Barry himself of course). The age factor, the potential factor, the steroid factor, the likeability factor, the actually get pitched to factor. Bonds will most likely only get 300 at bats this season, he's going to be walked THAT many times.
  15. my type of guy
  16. this is spam, but its redsox spam, so I'll leave it up......for now.
  17. ......What exactly are you referring to with this?
  18. Actually, results are not a bad idea. Thanks for the idea sinix, lol!
  19. I think thats what was going through everyones head when they saw/heard it. "NOT AGAIN!"
  20. This was a very old rumor. It is long dormant now I believe, and it certainly wont happen.
  21. Offense is exciting, but homeruns get boring. I'd rather see a double steal or a hit and run or a suicide squeeze than a 450 foot homerun. Homeruns are good for the occasional thrill, but I dont like how baseball has come to rely on them. But my favorite part of baseball is amazing fielding. I could watch web gems/ top 10 plays all day.
  22. Foulke and Schilling impressed me a lot. I think we have a great year ahead of us. Jim Rice just made a good, but hard to understand point (he isnt the best at speaking). Actually, its a pretty general point that most people have noticed by now, but I'll reiterate. We have 5 very good starters, and they all give us the oppurtunity to sweep series and win long streaks. Whereas a team like Baltimore has Ponson and then utter crap, but they can still score runs. I'm not sure what I thought was so great about the point in hindsight, but it makes you feel confident doesnt it?
  23. I turned it on just as Schilling was winding up for his first pitch. Good timing, huh?
  24. In terms of skill, sorry to say, but arod and magglio. Arod is better than nomar (), and magglio is about on par, maybe a little bit more consistent than manny. But I'm still DAMN happy with our guys.
  25. I tend to think you're right yeszir, but when have you seen Pedro miss that bad with his breaking stuff? What did he throw - 3, 4 curveballs - and the only thing they hit was the backstop. I know it was probably weather-related and I'm not trying to blow this out of proportion but maybe there's something to this whole arm slot thing and protecting his shoulder... I am a little worried about it, to say I wasnt would be a lie. We're just going to have to wait a week and see if his curveballs actually curve into the catcher's mitt. It was definitely painful to watch those littke nubblers. Welcome to the site by the way.
