  1. Look who decided to come back. Not too embarrassed?
  2. Conflicting reports. Some say he's a "Maybe" for tonight. What's going on?
  3. Interesting article. For someone who sucks he sure did well: http://www.zwire.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=..._id=24490&rfi=6
  4. Yea, this is kind of sketchy. Fanball is the only site reporting it, and it isn't really being discussed in detail anywhere. BDD hasn't even mentioned it...
  5. Indeed. How do you know all this, and how did you have the opportunity to talk to his mother?
  6. I'm liking Roberts more and more after watching him play in some games. He's definitely capable. Johnny definitely helped us win, there's no denying that. He wasn't just a "get on base and score runs" type of guy, but he also got important hits and key RBIs. Roberts won't do this as much, but he will score runs and put pressure on pitchers with his speed. It's a shame to lose Damon at such an important stretch of the season, but at least we should have him back to face the yankees in the all-important last matchup of the season (if all goes well).
  7. I lasted 7 innings lol. At least we beat the A's worse than the yankees beat tampa, right? Proof that we're better!
  8. Carry the 4, add 3, take into account the Eric Byrnes stupidity factor and you get a win!
  9. This'll certainly be a tight one all the way to the end....
  10. Well, not that great of a start. 1-0 A's, Bronson doesn't look too sharp.
  11. lol, I never picked up on that.... a rod. Lol.
  12. Ugh, yankees up 5-1 in the top of the 5th. It may not be feasible, but pray for a tampa bay comeback. I hate going into games knowing that we HAVE to win to stay competitive. It makes it so nerve-wracking. Lol.
  13. The first game I heard was postponed, and they are now playing the second one. Their request for a forfeit was officially denied.
  14. I really don't know anything about the guy, but do you see his ETA as being before late 2006 as ddm originally posted?
  15. Updated stats: Batters BA SLG G AB R H TB 2B 3B HR RBI BB SO SB CS E D.Murphy .261 .346 73 272 35 71 94 11 0 4 38 25 46 3 5 2
  16. Updated stats look extremely impressive: Pitchers W-L ERA G GS CG GF SH SV IP H R ER HR BB SO WP J.Papelbon 12-7 2.64 24 24 2 2 0 0 129.2 97 43 38 6 43 153 3 A 2.64 ERA! Most say he's our #2 pitching prospect behind alvarez (look at www.soxprospects.com for proof). 150 strikeouts in 130 innings is damn good if you ask me. I'm certainly looking forward to watching this guy progress
  17. Well, since West is a semi-big prospect, and since this hasn't been updated in forever, here's his most recent stats: J.West .293 .488 124 461 60 135 225 28 4 18 68 37 83 0 3 7 He should probably be called up next year, since his stats look half decent. He could certainly work on that k/BB ratio though...
  18. The article also said: So the team can't possibly be at the stadium right now for a game, since a flight from florida takes about 2 hours.
  19. From an ESPN article: I really don't see how they can just give the yankees two games that have playoff implications on account of a hurricane that no team has control of. It's not like the Devil Rays would simply blow off one of the games. I will certainly be pissed off if one or both of the games are forfeited.
  20. WHAT!? No, that can't be. You forfeit 9-0 if you fail to show up for a game because of a HURRICANE? No. I refuse to believe it.
  21. But they could win both and that would put us in an even bigger hole, which would suck. I'm not sure that the Devil Rays > Loaiza, its probably a tossup.
  22. Zito has been coming on strong lately, as has oakland as a team. They are only one game worse over the past few weeks where we have been tearing it up. Them, the cardinals and the sox are the hottest teams in baseball. Needless to say this should be an interesting series. Hopefully tonight (LATE, damn west coast games) Bronson can pitch well and keep oakland to 5 or fewer runs. This team has such an offensive pop that I can legitimately see us scoring 8 runs off of the A's pitching staff. From the mlb game preview: That's certainly promising. If we have already outscored the A's 51-18, we have a good base to work from. We just need to continue. 2/3 games here should be good enough to gain a game on the yankees, and probably on Anaheim too. The bad news is that Bronson was completely destroyed last time he faced the A's, his line: May 27 OAK L 2-15 L 3.1 7 9 6 1 2 2 2 2 0 0 45.0 5.00 .232 and last time out he didn't pitch well either. I'd say its 50-50 with Bronson pitching well. Hopefully, if he starts to struggle, Francona will take him out before he lets up too much damage a la Wakefield. In any case, this should be the most exciting series of the season.
  23. This is true, but it has never ever been this bad. We've all seen the comparisons on ESPN between the sox pitching and the yankees pitching over the past month. I'm unable to dig it up right now, but the yankees starters have won under 5 games compared to the sox's 15+. It's crazy.
