  1. But the last game we lost was Pedro's start....
  2. I was not raving about him. My only impression of him was the maybe 20 or so games he played however many years ago. I think this was during the Craig Grbeck era. He was absolutely horrible. I hate him with a passion. I remember him being traded, or released, and for some reason or another I have a vague recollection of him playing for the Padres. But I'm not sure. He's not with the club anymore though.
  3. Definite, 100%, no doubt loss. Why am I so sure? Because, sadly folks, I have returned from France. Yes, I am typing this from the comfort of my own home. Since August 16th, the day that I left the good ole US of A, the sox have lost how many games? 3? Oh, no, 1. One game. Now I'm back and the good spell is over. Sorry folks, but I had my plane ticket and I had to come home!
  4. Wow. The US just finished 1-2-3 in the mens 200 meter final. That was amazing. Complete dominance.
  5. The French have 25 total medals I think. Just to let you know.
  6. I promise to update this as soon as I get back.
  7. From what I've been reading here, it seems like Shopp is the ultimate streaky player. He hits well for a while, and then just falls into the funk to end all funks. Plus he seems to be striking out an awful lot.
  8. Format weirdness aside, that is really really stupid. Maybe a link to the thread that was posted in would help?
  9. Underrated, overrated, whatever you think of them, Oakland certainly has the potential to be the Red Sox's best friend going into the last month of the season. There's no doubt in my mind that the A's will win the west. But aside from the 3 games against us that they have in september, they play 7 against Texas and 3 against Anaheim. The A's could easily hand us the wild card spot by winning these series. Of course, we'd have to face them in the playoffs (for a change), but by that time we could make enemies out of them. In the meantime, go A's!
  10. Texas and the Yankees both lost. We're now tied for 1st in the WC with Anaheim, 2 ahead of Texas, and we're 5 behind the yankees. And how about Ortiz!
  11. Please hold off on making game threads until a few hours before each game. Starting one this early really only stops everyone from posting in the other one, where much can still be said.
  12. Wins shmins. I think they should have no bearing whatsoever on the cy young (to an extent). Santana has been the better pitcher this year, period. The A's are, by most accounts, a better team than the Twins, so it would follow suit that Mulder would have more wins.
  13. Lol, the all important question. Welcome to the site, even if you may be a yankees fan.
  14. The U.S now has 72 total medals. It seems that olypmics coverage is much more intense here in France than in the US. It may be because France is much closer to Greece, but still. They show EVERYTHING, from the pre race warmups to the 1009 after race victory laps to athletes getting dressed. It's crazy, and it sure gets boring sometimes. It may also be beacuse the time zones are similar, so they can actually show the events at a half decent hour.
  15. August 31st - September 8th is the most important stretch of the entire season. If we can win each of those series I'd say we're in a good position to win the wildcard.
  16. Unfortunately, every other team on the face of the planet also won. But whatever, we can't focus just on the other teams, we need to win every game possible and see what happens then.
  17. $$$$$. But I see your point, and agree with you.
  18. I've heard this mentioned, and despite the fact that he no longer has his two front teeth, I think he'd make a great addition to the team for one year. What we'd have to give up though may not be worth the few weeks we'd get out of him. He'd certainly help us get over the hump and make a push towards the playoffs though. Imagine a playoff series facing Pedro Schilling Glavine and (if need be) Wakefield.
  19. But think about how amusing it would be to see Gabe Kapler catch.
  20. I agree with ACL Bosox. Better now than later when we may really be in the thick of things and in need of an offensive boost, right? It would be a shame to lose it at the very end of the season because of a suspension.
  21. You gotta cool of sometime I guess. Good news is we're still tied for first in the wildcard.
  22. Hey, welcome to the site John.
  23. Lol, sure! And I like your signature by the way.
