    Anaheim lost to Seattle, 1-0. 5.5 back in the wild card. Anything that helps bring any magic number down to 0 is a good thing.

    Well, I mean, it kind of pisses me off that we have a better record against winning teams than the yanks. It means we aren't beating up on the teams that we should be beating up on as much as they are. It's a well known fact that we need to destroy Baltimore, Tampa, and Toronto to be competitive. For some reason Baltimore always gives us problems though, and as recent times have shown, we can sometimes cool off heavily while facing weak teams. What is going on?

    I'd be all for Lowe taking the 3rd starter spot if we make the playoffs. He showed great resolve last year getting that awesome strikeout to win it in Anaheim, and in his last 4 starts he's lowered his ERA .31 points and hasn't given up more than 3 runs. He's pitching extremely well. Bronson could go 4th, if we do indeed use a 4 man rotation. I'm just afraid that he doesn't have enough experience to pitch effectively in the post season.

    1) It's not over yet, especially for the wild card 2) Why all the sudden pessimism? Can't we all just have one constant tone? It's how I approached the recent hot streak, I had a suspiscious eye. This team can and will still win the wild card, these two tough losses will just put things into perspective for us fans and the team, and we might play less sloppily and better later on down the road.

    Anaheim and Seattle are tied 0-0 in the 4th. For some reason everyone is now realizing that we're Red Sox fans, and we should be watching the wild card and praying, not rejoicing in a sure fire AL east win.

    It's gotten to the point not where I'm completely rejecting the moneyball theory (if you'll remember, I've always hated it), and am now starting to be very very skeptical of anything Bill James produces. Sure win shares and the like can be useful, to an extent. I've never really heard of pythagorean wins, I'm assuming it has nothing to do with a triangle though.
