  1. The ONE game I get to watch (this damn 6 hour time difference) and the sox completely suck. Oy.
  2. If it were a slap hitting singles playet, someone like ichiro, then by all means, go the other way. You may be making more outs by trying to hit somewhere where its not natural for you to hit, but when you do make contact the odds are greatly improved for the ball to get through. That said, it would never work with Ortiz. Have you seen his swing? He relies on the low and particularly inside pitches. He destroys those. I'd rather let Ortiz hit it over the heads of the shift then try to do something sneaky and hit it around
  3. Indeed. Plus that guy was a speed demon.
  4. Contents: Basic Board Rules Help ____________________________________________________________________ Basic Board Rules: We'll try to keep this brief. After all, who likes abiding by and enforcing rules? Still, we ask that you read and follow these guidelines. ____________________________________________________________________ Members Info: Admins and Moderators have the final say in all matters. The Moderators have control over their individual forums, but they may also take action in other situations as they see fit. They will edit, move, or delete posts in accordance with the forum rules. How they interpret the rules is entirely up to them, and done on a case-by-case basis. Their decisions are final. If you think they have made an unfair judgment, please bring it up in a civil manner and the problem will be discussed between the moderators. Arguing over decisions will not get a decision overturned. Rather, it will make us mad. Repeated infractions will result in a ban. How to avoid being banned Be civil, and you won't be banned. If you are verbally warned once for breaking the rules, don't do it again or risk being banned. As long as you abide the rules of the forum and any guidelines set in place for individual sections all will be fine. Please avoid: Arguing with the Mods/Admin about administrative actions. Arguing over baseball matters, however, is ok. Spamming (more on this later) Harassing or insulting members of the forum outside of the Fights section Flaming the site or members in your posts on the forum Advertising other sites (see spam) The moderating team reserves the right to serve an immediate ban for any reason. Avatars and signatures Avatars and signatures may not contain innapropriate text, images, and/or other content. Pornographic or nude images, illegal substances, gore, or excessive profanity are not permitted in avatars or signatures. The moderating team reserves the right to edit any member’s avatar/signature without warning. User Class/Rank: The user classes and ranks are as follows. Single A- 0 posts Double A- 25 posts Triple A- 75 posts Rookie- 150 posts Major Leaguer- 350 posts All-Star- 750 posts MVP- 2500 posts Legend- 5000 posts Custom User Title- 10000 posts ____________________________________________________________________ Posting Rules: Flaming or aggressive behaviour will not be tolerated. If you have a problem, please limit it to the ‘Fights and Crap’ forum. It is there for this reason. Political and Religious bashing is strictly forbidden and, along with racist comments, will result in bans. You are free to have any opinion you like, but every opinion can be expressed without offending someone else. Spamming Spamming is defined as the posting of self-promotional or promotional threads or posts. It is also excessive, meaningless posting with the sole intent of increasing a user’s post count. Please consider if your post contributes to the community before posting. Redundant threads will be locked and/or merged with existing ones. Please use the search tool to see if a thread has already been created. Please keep your threads and posts in the correct forums. The moderating team will move errant posts and threads, albeit grudgingly. Don’t make us hate you. Keep in mind… Bear in mind that you can be judged by other members not only by your content, but by your format. Please try to use correct capitalization, grammar, and spelling in your posts. Paragraph breaks also make longer posts easier to read. A post with paragraphs is a post that will get responses. We aren’t a forum full of 12 year old girls, so lets try not to look like it. Making two accounts is not permitted If discovered, both accounts will be banned. ____________________________________________________________________ Talksox HOWTO: How do I search? Very easily. Go Here and type in what you are looking for. Search for keywords, as they will get you better results: If you want to see if the topic of Tim Naehring’s career batting average against lefties has already been discussed, for example: Bad Tim Naehring’s career batting average against lefties Good Tim Naehring lefties, batting average, etc How do I put a picture in my signature? You don’t. Pictures in signatures have been eliminated, as they cause clutter in the forums and make the actual content difficult to read. ____________________________________________________________________ Thank you, and good night.
  5. I just wanted to call some more attention to this post, as it is of questionable intelligence.
  6. I'm not scared, but I'm not comfortable either. That about sums it up for me at this point.
  7. It's 10:20 where I am in Europe. :dunno:
  8. Ok, threads merged. Whereisnomar, please try to only make one thread each time, and post them in the correct forum. You have some good points, just keep them organized please.
  9. There's always some team that seems to give us trouble. For the past few years its been Baltimore. It just goes to show how difficult it is to be consistently good against all teams.
  10. I'm sure tattoo places in boston specialize in Red Sox ones. Anyway, welcome to Talksox. Always glad to have an international perspective here.
  11. Welcome to Talksox. We're glad to have you.
  12. Cora is easier to spell than Vazquez. It's an upgrade.
  13. I'm as pissed as the next guy about foulke, but I think RSN learned its lesson with Lowe. He sucked with a capital S a year before turning into a stellar starter. You never know with closers. One game could be all it takes for Foulke to turn his season around. The boos got to Lowe as I'm sure they're getting to Foulke.
  14. Remind me to read this thread later. You guys are weird.
  15. So damn good period. I wouldn't want to face that guy, even if I was wearing a full complement of body armor.
  16. Welcome to the site. If you'd like me to fix your little spelling mistake in your username, just shoot my a pm and I'd be more than happy to help ya out.
  17. We have a thread on him, albeit from a while ago: http://www.talksox.com/forum/showthread.php?t=459
  18. I dont believe you. You're saying that you're friends with Abe Alvarez? Most people here would know who he is. He's pitched for the sox in the majors before...
  19. Welcome to Talksox. That's awesome that you have a friend in the minors. Good luck to him, whoever he is.
  20. This'll be the last sox game I'm gonna catch in a while. I'm off to France for two weeks later in the day. Maybe I'll post from there, maybe not.
  21. Whoa, hey now, that wasn't a personal attack. You will note the light hearted, albeit mocking tone that was used. You have to admit that there's at least something funny about a team with a 200+ million dollar payroll having a .500 record this late in the season. You support the team, I'm glad. There seem to be a lot of fans who have jumped ship over the past two seasons for your team. I'll be the first to admit that the Red Sox bandwagon is growing inversely proportional to the Yankees one. It's no coincidence. The only reason we're bitter is because MOST yankee fans, not all (you seem to be an exception rather than the rule), refuse to accept the fact that things may have changed, and will revert to arguments based SOLELY on the past in order to "shut Red Sox fans up". I know you're a good poster, from netsports and everything. Good for you for supporting your team, and thank you for not making stupid arguments. Because of the nature of message boards, the worst of all sides tend to come out. Most yankee fans on sox boards are insipid trolls, and sox fans on yankee boards are righteous *******s who think they're fighting the good fight but are only making fools of themselves. So, in the end, this post really has no point. I've lost my train of thought. We, or at least I, don't hate you for being a yankee fan.
  22. You bring up a good point. The only reason I can see for it, and it's a small one, I admit, is the fact that the yankees winning percentage is, well, its .500, and they flat out suck. So I guess that might explain it. Otherwise, I'm at a loss.
  23. If you aren't here because of the blowout loss, then what made you make your first post here since Halloween of LAST YEAR?
  24. We need another road trip, that's what.
