  1. Did you think this article was full of hype? I didn't read it that way at all, I thought it was tempered optimism for a guy who is succeeding in a way most pitchers can't in this day and age.
  2. Huh. Never even occurred to me that blocking a bag could be implemented in this way. And Cora is gone...
  3. "Next year, we won't be hit by the injury bug so badly!" *next year's injury bug*
  4. Thanks! Would you like help retrieving your old account? Just shoot me a PM and we can do that.
  5. At this point, likely the right decision. He's been playing through this for awhile and there's no reason to keep doing it. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2024/09/rafael-devers-season-probably-over-due-to-shoulder-discomfort.html
  6. Ads are a really frustrating thing for everybody involved. What you see, I probably don't... which is fine 99% of the time. But in that 1%, a developer coded either an incompetent or malicious ad that screws up the website. And our ad provider TRIES to catch those before they reach users but it's a big ask to expect 100% accuracy. So then it becomes a game of chasing down a single ad that I'm probably not seeing that is causing an issue the user can't wholly explain. It's super-annoying and perhaps my least favorite part of this entire job.
  7. Technically, one of these teams must win tonight. I know neither wants to do it, but one must.
  8. See, and now it has stopped for me. Sigh. I will try to keep an eye out, there is likely *one* ad triggering this, that's usually the case.
  9. So the Sox are under .500. Not that it matters a whole lot but yuck.
  10. I think there’s a near-zero chance Jansen gets 2/$32m from anyone at his age.
  11. I totally get the Red Sox moving on from any late-30s reliever but can they really afford to "hope" for a comeback after the bullpen's performance this season? Seems like they need to focus about securing more good arms.
  12. Chris Cotillo of MassLive reported that Red Sox closer and soon-to-be free agent Kenley Jansen is open to returning to the Red Sox but wants to pitch for a contender in 2025. The 36-year-old right-hander acknowledges he is in the twilight of his career and wants to make the most of his remaining years. While Jansen is in the latter-half of his 30s, he has shown few signs of slowing down. In his two seasons with Boston, he has pitched in 102 games with a 125 ERA+ and 111 strikeouts in 96.1 innings pitched. Given the volatility of relievers, particularly aging relievers, it's hard to predict what the free agent market will offer Jansen. He may have to settle for a one-year deal but if a desperate team aggressively pursues him, a two-year contract might be in play. Would you bring back Jansen for 2025 and what kind of contract would you be willing to offer him? View full rumor

  14. We'll work on this for next season. At this point, I just figured it's best to let things ride for two weeks and implement something more consistent from OD onward in 2025. After doing this for a couple of decades, I've discovered that if you want to change something, the best way to do it is the start of a new season.
  15. Ooooh, that one is my fault. I read right past that line, should have caught it in editing.
  16. This is a new development, it's been happening to me as well. Only started in the past week or so, I need to reach out to the ad provider and see if they can do something about it.
  17. I'm impressed that all of you have been watching this bullpen all season and are still here, talking baseball.
