    I think you need to lock him up now or he goes to free agency. Any discount you get in a Crochet extension ticks away with each passing day. By the time you get to next offseason, you have a Corbin Burnes situation where he's just going to let it ride to free agency. Given Crochet's injury history and lack of starting experience, he *should* be willing to sacrifice a few years of FA for a payday today. It's risk mitigation for a pitcher in today's game. A year from now, that's less likely.

    IMO, you kinda have to go with Fitts until he shows you he shouldn't be in an MLB rotation.

    This makes all the sense in the world. The Sox have gobs and gobs of young position players but few starters and none who profile at the level of Crochet. Lock him up.

    I agree that baseball today is less fun to watch than it was 40 years ago. But technology or not, the pursuit of optimization is going to happen. Technology just accelerates that pursuit. The onus falls onto MLB to be the steward of the sport and change rules as front offices "optimize" the sport in unhealthy ways. And until very recently, MLB hadn't done a damned thing to slow down the rapidly-accelerating use of technology to homogenize the game. And that's on them.

    Oh, I'm 100% okay with others starting game threads, I truly do not need to do it. My only real concern is the following: 1. They be started in the Red Sox forum 2. They be started as early in the day as possible As for the rest of it, I'm open to whatever people like/want.

    To me, this is the biggest reason why if you think a top prospect is anywhere close to ready, you put him on the OD roster. I'm surprised by how many teams ignore these new incentives.

    I generally feel aggressive promotions are a good thing. But I'm just not sure about Campbell. He's just so... weird... and runs such high BABIPs that I think I want to see more of him in AAA, facing annoying 28-year-olds who pitch more than throw. On the other hand, it's far more interesting if he's on the OD roster.

    Oh yeah, I'm of the opinion that the Sox should at least consider playing Bregman at second base. If Raffy wasn't so bad at third, Bregman at second would be an easy decision.

    The infield situation is only messy until Trevor Story loses a leg in a freak golf cart accident some time in mid-March.
