  1. I had no idea the Monster was added that late into the park's existence. I knew it wasn't *always* there but I didn't realize the park existed for 30 years before it was installed.
  2. Definitely worth a read. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/jaws-and-the-2025-hall-of-fame-ballot-dustin-pedroia/
  3. David Schoenfield of ESPN wrote that the Red Sox are one of several teams vying for Alex Bregman's services in 2025 and beyond. The list of teams is a collection of baseball heavyweights so competition may be fierce; along with the Boston Sox, interested parties include the Philadelphia Phillies, both New York teams, and the Houston Astros. Bregman will play his age-31 season in 2025. He posted a 118 OPS+ last season and has a career 132 mark. Those are impressive but what Bregman would bring to the Red Sox infield is defensive stability at the hot corner: he has a career +27 DRS (Defensive Runs Saved) and +22 OAA (Outs Above Average). And as our own Davy Andrews wrote early in the offseason, Bregman is a great fit to dent the Monster on a nightly basis.

  5. Perfect, this is just what I needed. All of these players have been added.
  6. Okay, so normally we don't hold mid-offseason votes but the Sox farm was so decimated last week by trades that just bumping lower prospects up the list didn't make sense. We would have had players with two points (meaning they were only chosen by 1-2 people) in the 19/20 slots. Please take a look at the existing list closely and let me know which players should be added. Due to the recent losses, there are only 21 players listed for 20 slots. Here's the rundown how to participate: 1. You must have an account and be logged in to vote. If you don't have an account, click here. It literally requires 60 seconds to create an account. 2. Review our current top 20 prospect list, catch up on stats, rankings, etc. (you can do so from the voting page link below) 3. Have your prospect list in your dirty little paws? Then flip on over to the new prospect voting page (after reading the rest of this, please). https://talksox.com/prospect-voting 4. Voting is super simple, you drag and drop players in the order you wish them to be. After you move a prospect, the list automatically renumbers so you don't lose track of the order. This works on mobile devices but it's a *vastly* better experience on desktop. Sorry, that's just how this kind of thing works. There's no great way to make something like this be as awesome on a phone screen. 5. Each prospect has a comment section where you can add any commentary you have on that player. At the bottom of the list, there is a general comment section to explain over-arching things you wish to mention. 6. Don't see a prospect you want to put on the list? Just pop back here and give me a mention (in a comment, start typing @Brock Beauchamp as it appears). Mention the prospect you want added and I will do that asap. 7. Once you're done with all of it, click Save. You've now voted! 8. When the voting closes, a new thread will automatically generate in this forum with all of your rankings and comments for everyone to read and talk about. 9. You can only vote once. If you have voted in error, pop back here and tag Brock, asking to have your vote deleted. It will be removed and you can vote again. Voting will close at end of day Friday, December 27th!
  7. Teams refusing to hand out pre-arbitration extensions to incredible talent to avoid "spending money" is missing the ****ing forest for the trees, IMO.
  8. Maybe? But my biggest question about the Orioles is why haven't they locked up a single one of those players yet? I really don't understand what they're doing over there.
  9. I love Vladdy but in general, I'm against paying first basemen huge money. And if the Sox pursue Vlad, they should do so in 11 months and avoid giving Toronto prospects.
  10. Call it a hunch but I don't think Sasaki is going to the Dodgers. I'd give better odds to the Padres, frankly. He has shown a willingness to consider smaller-market teams and at some point, Japanese stars are not going to want to play second (or in Sasaki's case, third) fiddle on a team like the Dodgers.
  11. There are a few things worth noting about Crochet. First, what you said here. Second, do NOT look at his ERA over any stretch of time. As a Twins fan, I saw a lot of the White Sox. Don't hold anything against any of their pitchers, they were working with literally NOTHING behind them. Every aspect of that team was comically bad. The defense was absolutely terrible. The bullpen was equally bad.
  12. Jon Morosi tweeted a nugget: the Red Sox aren't done pursuing starters. If this is true, CBO Craig Breslow is serious about stabilizing the Red Sox rotation for 2025 and beyond. The Mariners have a slew of good starters but have stated they're not keen on the idea of trading the young cost-controlled core of Logan Gilbert, George Kirby, Bryce Miller, and Bryan Woo. The Mariners also have 32-year-old Luis Castillo rostered, who could likely be had for a reasonable prospect return due to the fact he is owed roughly $24 million per season through 2027 with a $25 million vesting option in 2028. The Red Sox are now reduced to a "Big Three" with the removal of Kyle Teel in the Garrett Crochet trade. If they decide to pursue one of Gilbert, Kirby, or Miller it's likely that will be reduced to a "Big Two".

  14. The most interesting aspect to me is where this puts Sox catching depth. They kinda NEED to make a move for a catcher now and the only way to get a good one is in trade.
  15. That's the kicker. Even the smartest GMs don't know for sure. But being a smart GM means you need to be right more often than wrong, expecting perfection is a fool's errand.
  16. In case you can't tell from this writing, Corbin Burnes is not my favorite free agent candidate.
  17. Chris Cotillo of Mass Live wrote that the Red Sox are preparing an offer for free-agent starting pitcher Corbin Burnes. The Sox have had a rough week, losing two bidding wars against New York teams: Juan Soto ended up in Queens while Max Fried ended up in the rival Bronx. It feels slightly odd that it is being reported Boston is "preparing an offer" this late in the game. Is it their initial offer or a revised offer in the wake of losing two of their targets early in this offseason? Burnes himself has questions lingering around him. He's the closest thing to an "innings eater" we see in the modern game, pitching at least 167 innings a season every year since 2021. He also peaked in 2021, winning the National League Cy Young award with Milwaukee. Since that time, Burnes peripherals have been trending down in a problematic way. His strikeout percentage peaked at 30.4% in his award-winning season but has dropped each season since, ending up at only 17.0% in 2024. Burnes is 30 years old through the 2025 season.
