Pivetta vs our old friend Nathan Eovaldi.

Cora is going with the hot bat, Refsnyder, in the #3 slot vs the RHP. Let's see how it works out.

Every game is a big game, from here on out.

(OPS last 28 days)

1. L Duran CF (1.005)

2. L Yoshida DH (.807)

3. R Refsnyder LF(1.114)

4. L Devers 3B (1.183)

5. R Wong C (.773)

6. L Abreu RF (1.038)

7. L Smith 1B (.954)

8. R Rafaela SS (.834)

9. L DHam 2B (.500)

Except for DHam, this is one red hot line-up!

RHB O'Neill (.947 in last 28 days is still out sick.)

L/R Sogard .730

R Romy .741

R Jansen 1.083 w Sox only

(DHam may be PH for, if a lefty comes into the game.)

GO SOX!!!!!

Red Hot hitters, chilly pitchers leads to 5-9 since A-S Break . Important to just win each series so this is a KEY game. KC could be caught this week with a win today and a sweep in KC coming up.

Can Pivetta control the HR, a feat he has trouble with.

No.

Did not take Nick long to join Kutter and Tanner in the HR Derby reversed.

At least Nate, a better pitcher, had to throw a lot of pitches to retire the Red Hots with no runs.

As good as Abreu and Rafaela are doing, and they lead many rookie categories, if they could stand to take Ball 4 just once in awhile the pitchers would have to come to them , creating a higher level of performance. But they are chasers at heart.

Having run the 2 inning results through an advanced metrics analytical algorithm, I can safely predict a 9-0 result for this game. If the trend changes, I will get real time updates.

Going with basics, Sox pitchers have been throwing medium FB's up in the middle zone. What do they expect ?

No substitute for speed, except HR power, but Hamilton and Duran upset the algorithm, now predicting 9-3 outcome.

Wilyer finds the top edge of the wall propelling the Sox into a 2-2 tie. Nice swing on a pitch up in the zone, doesn't roll over it but goes where pitched

Duran showing up big time. The analytics are now projecting a 5.5-4.5 win for the Sox. The algorithm has been modified to ignore bullpen performance. Half runs are discounted to the nearest whole number. Se who gets that

I've never considered EO more than just an above average starting pitcher. IOW, if he's the #1 starter on a team, that team's starting pitching is hurting.

Yeah, I think you are correct. he looks better than he performs on the scoreboard.

BTW, is it true that the favorite music in the Sox clubhouse is the old Italian favorite, O SOLO Mio ?

I'm not bothered by a .333 OBP with his power.

BTW, .333 ain't all that bad.

That was a beautiful sight to see.

What was that all about? Not allowing Pivetta the chance for a win? Is this some form of punishment? Is it about going against the line-up for the 3rd time?

These and other questions hopefully will be answered.

Agree, that he has the potential to be a great hitter in the lineup. Counting on the next couple years for Wilyer andd Cedanne to bring more baseball smarts and experience to their games and become the players that Duran has become. That could be an outfield reminiscent of the Red Sox OF's of the past.

Seeing that both teams have hit 2 solos, perhaps they should play that song during the 7th inning stretch.

For the technicians in the crowd, the actual song is O Sole Mio, but that doesn't relate well to the actual circumstances.

Abreu needs to learn how to take a BB.

LOL!

Yes, on 3 ball pitches well out of the zone.

Consider how much better he might be if he forced pitchers to come to him./

That was the point, not to be looking walks, but take them when offered vs chasing pitches for K's. Someday you will get it that the OBP could be .350 , rarified territory.
