A couple of brain farts on the bases tonight, Anyway I believe it's about time to promote Duran to an everyday player.

He has his OPS v LHPs up to .723, so it has been much higher than that, of late.

One problem is, Refsnyder has been a top MLB batter vs LHPs since the start of 2022. Yes, TOP 10! Duvall hits LHPs very well and has been hot over the last 7-8 games. Yoshida is not being benched, but can DH, if you bench Casas or Turner. (I would not do that.)

To me, it comes down to Duran or Dugo vs LHPs. Maybe Dugo needs some rest, but I'm not ready to make him the platoon guy, either.

I'm guessing Duvall will be traded.

Doesn't completely remove the bad taste of losing 2 of 3 from Oakland, but it helps.

Oakland had excellent pitching in their 3-0 win and Bello stunk in their 6-5 win. Stuff happens.

Taking 2 of 3 from the Mets is kind of neat, especially after blowing game 1. In both games the Sox had hitting and pitching. Sox came close to a sweep.

Indeed.

Most of our recent losses have been close ones, except that one in Oak.

A series win!!!

We’ve won 5 out our last 6 series. A split with ATL would be decent. That road trip at SFG & SEA could be a real ball-buster, but I’m hopeful we can go 4-2 or 3-3, at worst.

Is that enough to keep us from selling?

That 3-0 one?

Not exactly a blowout either…

This road trip coming up is huge for this team. Also two games against the Braves who are very good team.

Everything this season has seemed "huge" simply because the Sox have been right around .500 in a season when .500 (actually, a little above) keeps you in the hunt for a wild card.

Depends on what really constitutes "selling." It it's Paxton, that's definitely a "sell." If it's Kike, it's just common sense.

Duvall would be somewhere in between. He's struggled since he returned, but he is still a righty bat with power and some defensive skill. With the rise of Duran, the Sox have had four good bats--Yoshida, Duvall, Duran, and Dugo--and just 3 OF positions. Plus Refsnyder, another righty bat. If Yoshida DH's so that Cora can put Dugo, Duvall, and Duran in the OF, then Turner, another reliable righty bat, has to play 1b or 2b. If 1b, then Casas can't play.

I would not consider trading Kike a sell. I'm not sure Duvall would ne, either, as we have Refsnyder as a RH'd OF bat. (I doubt we trade both, unless we are selling Paxton, too.)

I don't see us selling Paxton and "buying" another SP'er as some have suggested we might do.

Losing to Oakland hurt, but that was a huge series win. Hopefully we can somehow split with the Braves. We need our rotation healthy. These bullpen days I doubt would survive against a powerhouse like Atlanta

Well the division is tightening up as well. Every game counts when you’re in a tight division.
