if Duvall is sick , as mentioned , then Cora is managing this one with a very short bench . Caleb Hamilton and sore Yoshida are all there is ?

Radio guys have repeatedly said Duvall has some sort of stomach bug; when Ort and Pivetta started warming up in the top of the 2nd, they were hoping that that Whitlock having it was the reason.

So that does mean that Caleb Hamilton and Christian Arroyo are the bench.

Naturally, after the Sox blow a chance to tie or take the lead, Pivetta gives up a bomb. Fire Bloom.

I'm still scratching my head why Pivetta wasn't Cora's 1st choice over Ort. But I know better than to question a genius.

I’m guessing that Pivetta, a recent convert to the pen, still requires more of a starter’s time to warm up. As a long time reliever. Ort probably can get ready a lot quicker.

Only thing I can think of.

Good point.

After last years 3-16 performance against Toronto, there isn’t a poster here who before the season started wouldn’t have signed up for 6-1 vs. the Jays.

Right now the SOX are 21-21 at home and 21-21 on the road. That is not easy to accomplish.

As mentioned elsewhere on Talksox, this team is the definition of averageness, middle of the road, compromising , not exceptional, etc. However, I draw the line at mediocre. To me that would be below average. Revert to the mean or perish

Duran. Great day.... and he has a hair cut that looks like he just got done with a workout at Cobra Kai and now ready to head to the mall and get a high score at the arcade. What a great ball game today for him.

Justin Time Turner is not average in any way . A gamer as they say

He grows on a guy... I see why Dodger fans hated to see him go.

Asking for a sweep is difficult for this team. They’re gonna finish most likely 9 games or 10 games under 500.

Your W-L prediction could very well be spot on given the state of the starting pitching. Sending out your preseason #7, #8, #9 starters for any length of time is not a recipe for success.

Every time you think Casas is ready to break out, he reminds you he is average . OTOH , Kike is flat useless

About it. Casas stinks today and Kike stinks most of the time.

Difference is, Casas is a rookie in his 101st game. He’s may improve, he may not but the jury is still out.

Kike is in his 10th year and is approaching 1000 games. He’s on the downside for sure.

I just looked at Kike’s numbers; amazingly, they are actually slightly better this year than last. Admittedly, that does not require much vertical.
