Drew Pyne to enter transfer portal, and will not play in Bowl game for Notre Dame!

Too many key players are sitting out bowl games, now.

I'm not sure what solution can be found.

No big loss. The USC game showed the difference between an NFL caliber quarterback ( Williams ) and a ham and egger ( Pyne ) . N.D. needs an upgrade at quarterback.

Agree, and Buchner wasn’t the answer either. These are Kelly QB too.

USC shot themselves in the foot and handed Ohio State a playoff slot.

I was hoping both Alabama and Ohio St. missed it, this year.

With TCU losing, it looks like Bama and OSU both have a shot now.

I think it would be the first time a 2 loss team makes the playoffs.

12-0 Georgia (winning as I type)

12-0 Michigan (plays Purdue, tonight)

(Both of these teams are in, even if they lose, today)

12-1 TCU

11-1 OH St

11-2 USC

10-2 Alabama

10-2 Clemson (plays #23 UNC, tonight)

10-2 TN, Penn St & Clemson (Hard to justify jumping ahead of AL)

Right now its probably

1. Georgia

2. Michigan

3. Ohio State

and 4th spot is likely between TCU and Bama. I wont be surprised if Bama gets 4th seed.

Sadly, I agree.

The close way TCU lost might help them, but 'Bama is a bigger draw and a money-maker.

Absolutely. Especially with the chance for the first round matchups to be a Michigan/OSU rematch and a Bama/Georgia SEC battle? That would kill it rating wise

The Big 12 is not all that strong, but I think a 1 loss team deserves it over a two loss.

TCU did beat Texas and K St- both ranked. Yes, Alabama had a tougher schedule, but I think they should keep it at no 2 loss teams ever making it.

Bama is better, so I get it.

The playoffs are expanding to 12 teams, so 2 and 3 loss teams will be included then. The SEC is by far the toughest conference. Alabama is a better team than TCU. I wonder if any of those committee members would put money on TCU in a game against the Crimson Tide ? I doubt it.

Folks complain about the pace of play in baseball. What about college football ? The endless series of reviews , replays , penalty flags and various other delays is really getting annoying.

True, but I don't think the rubric is about who is the best. It's about primarily records, then strength of schedule.

I thought Alabama would be in. I also thought Ohio St would be #3.

It still amazes me that who gets into the playoffs are still decided by polls, and guys sitting in cigar smoke filled rooms. Also the fact that not everyone plays the same amount of games which hurts some teams, and helps others.

With so many teams and conferences of varying strength, it's hard to have a system that is totally objective.

If you go by some computer generated formula, somebody creates that formula.

When the playoffs are expanded, it will help- as most of the very best teams will make the playoffs, but there will always be debate about the one or two teams that just missed out.

This way is better than the old polls, where sometimes there were two seperate #1's.

Well, my domers pulled it out.

Big games, tonight: Mich v TCU and GA vs Ohio St.

My only hope at winning my bowl pool is for USC and Penn St to win. Even then, I think I can just place second.

(I went with So. Carolina over ND!)

Georgia v TCU for all the marbles.

Who-da-thunk it?

I'm predicting Georgia squeeks it out.

Encouraging QB play.

That is the key.

Agree, and it’s key that he stays healthy, because there is not much behind him. ND has had trouble recruiting a good QB lately, and have had to go outside 2 out of the last 3 years.

You'd think with a more rigorous academic admissions policy than most top teams, we'd suffer in the area of line players, not the brain-orientated QB position, right?

Agree, and I just don’t get, or remember ND having this much trouble getting a good QB. I don’t think Book was expected to take over, and play as much as he did either, and he did quite well.

I was lucky. In my freshman year Joe Montana led us to a championship vs #1 Texas, led by Earl Campbell. What many don't know is that our dufus coach, Dan Devine, had Joe as the 3rd string QB. It took a flop in game one and an injury in game 2 to get Joe to start, and the rest is history.
