Limping into the all star break 1-4. Beyond pathetic. Better bring it next week against the Yankees. F sakes.

Not a good way to enter the ASB, but what a great first half to the season!

Kudos to this team!

Agreed. This sucks but a hell of a first half.

Playing the Yanks so much should be a big boost for us.

Nothing to complain about with his arm.

He's great at throwing and framing pitches. I give him tons of credit in those two areas.

He's been a plus hitter for a catcher- not so much this year, but over the last few years, yes.

IMO, he is okay at blocking bad pitches, but not great.

He sucks with handling the staff, and to me, that is more than half of a catcher's overall value to a team.

Moon he yanks the mitt back in the zone too far when framing he’s terrible at it and has cost the staff a lot by doing this .But until we get a guy who can hit like Vaz and throw like him it’s a tough upgrade for Bloom .Tough loss today .

Respect your opinion, Moon, but seriously this isn't exactly what one would call a PO contending starting staff. A catcher can only do so much with what he has to work with.

Anyone saying we would be up a game and half at ASB before this season started needs to play the lotto.Fantastic first half and can’t wait to see 1b upgraded .

Agreed. We will find out what this team is made of. A chance to really destroy the Yankees and stay ahead of the division, or…… I don’t even want to say it.

Why is this not a PO contending staff ? Think this is wrong looking at who our reinforcements are .

The Sox got 11 hits to the Phllies 6 but went only 1 for 9 with runners in scoring position. Guys getting pull happy and grounding out to kill opportunities. The Sox made 3 errors. Sox starting pitcher was poor again as it they have been all week. Time for a rest and to get heads back on straight. the Sox RP's are getting it done for the most part.

The SOX BP has been getting it done most of the season and, imho, is the main reason they are in 1st place. Hope they continue their excellence.

Pivetta was why the Sox lost, period.

Definitely. Better day from him and this is a winnable game.

Yankees look like they might take out Houston again. Yikes. They may be catching fire like they usually do

In the second half. MASSIVE Series next week against those guys. I can’t friggin wait!

And if VAZ sucks with handling the pitchers, why is the BP doing so well? Is it possible the SOX BP has better pitchers than their starters.

Pitching is the reason most teams win World Series. If Pivetta was even average today this is a win.

True, but when one says 'pitching is the reason' it's usually in regards to the starters, not usually the BP. The SOX have flipped that so far this season.

Pathetic. Lost 4 out of their last 6. Anyway this team is gonna make or break their season after the all star break. All those games against the Yankees.

We have seen the word swoon. Getting flashbacks.

Agreed. This team has definitely overachieved. Let us all hope that overachieving can last a whole season.

They have overachieved but there’s no excuses for this team anymore.

I gotta stop going to games. 0-3 this year when I go. Still had a good day though after the debacle that was this morning

The record shows that the vast majority of pitchers do better with our back up catcher (except when it was Swihart). I've provided the data.

One can argue nobody could get any better from this staff, this year, and it's a great point.

As for his pitch framing, he has consistently scored highly in this area, so ignore ghosts.

Astros score 6 in bottom of the 9th to beat Yankems 8-7. And, no, Chapman wasn't involved.

That should be Boone's final straw. I don't need to know any specifics.
