I'd offer him a fair deal that brings him past his final arb, but nothing :eek:real large and long.

To me, Devers is #1 priority lock down.

Love Devers but how much for a DH slash 1b ? I agree he’s priority 1 .

3 run lead in the old days would be likely a called game or close to be but with pitchers like Rodriguez these days is not even close to think that.

Rodriguez’ all nightmares came true this inning geez

You mean basically pay him $95M/4 plus what he would have gotten in his 2 arb years- tops.

Not sure about that.

What kind of contract would you give him?

No disrespect for Wander, but he couldn't have asked for an easier starting pitcher to begin his major league career against. I'm not sure if it won't be just as easy tomorrow.

Number 1 priority for SOX is starting pitching and I have no idea how they're gonna get it. It won't be from the farm; I'm pretty certain of that.

The Rays' farm system produces some excellent crops, while the SOX farm system of late reminds me of Grapes of Wrath.

The Rays have done a great job, and they still are blowing us away on the farm, but maybe the tide is turning on the Yanks...

BTV has these values for Rays prospects:

125 Franco

56 Brujan

23 Baz

18 Edwards

16 Lowe

16 Colmenarez

14 Jones

13 Hunt

12 Gross

11 Ryan

9 Hernandez

Yanks

38 Dominquez

24 Peraza

16 Schmidt

14 Vargas

14 Duran

12 Alcantara

11 Volpe

11 Medina

9 Wells

Sox

48 Casas

45 Duran

25 Downs

11 Jimenez

10 Mata

9 Hernandez ©

How about Sale, Whitlock or Houck/Seabold?

Can we just bite the bullet on Erod and make him a 2 inning pitcher ? Aka opener?

Or send him to the bullpen and call up a high school kid. Willing to take anything right now.

Sale and Houck will be in the rotation at some point.

Send ERod to the pen already. Put Whitlock in the rotation for a while and see if he sticks, if not, wait till the later happens.

Whitlock is not stretched out enough to go more than maybe 3 innings.

Sale is probably the SOX main hope; Whitlock probably won't be available as a starter until next year. Houck is not rated that high as a prospect, and Seabold I know nothing about. It would be great if Houck succeeds, but a starting pitcher coming thru the SOX farm has the odds stacked against him.

Im going to be the one to defend Sale here .Stop Now depending on this man as a starter this year .I do not think it’s reasonably fair and I’m ghost .

Then BP when Rodriguez starts. Do not let him pitch more than 3 innings.

They need to figure out what to do when Rodriguez comes to the mound.

Why do we want E-rod in the pen. The SOX already have Andriese.

Lol

Maybe and just maybe he can do well coming off from there. Also, an extra LHP wouldn’t be bad.

Moon would you trade Casas for a young controlled Pitcher ? Do you have a pitcher in mind ?

I don't think any GM, in their right mind, trades a good young controllable pitcher for Casas, unless the team is cheap and the pitchers is about to begin his first or second of 4 arbs.

No, I have nobody in mind.

If we decide to move Devers to 1B and extend him, I'd think about trading Casas. Right now, I'm thinking of keeping all our best prospects and maybe making trades to get more.

I think Sale will pitch this season. I doubt he'll be the old Sale, but even if he's 80% of his old self, he'll still be the SOX best starter.
