Incredible inning!!! Richards was dead, dead, dead, and got out of it with just one run scored.

 

Every hard hit ball, including the liner caught by Enrique, was off a fastball near the middle of the zone.

That may have been the hardest hit one run inning I've seen this season.

Well, at least we can feel good that it's unlikely our guys are stealing signs. Except for Verdugo, who simply figured--correctly--that Stripling would throw the exact same first pitch to him he threw to the kid from CF.

I was hopeful after about Richards' 1st 6 starts that he was getting back to his pre-injury days, but based on what I've seen of late it was probably a false hope.

Meanwhile, he and Vazquez seem to have agreed he can't command his slider or curve.

I think it was Mussina who said you’ll start 32 games. You have everything working 8 of them, nothing working in 8 of them and something working in the others.

 

This might be one of those second 8.

Richard is so lucky to have given up just 2 runs. He can only throw strikes with his fastball, and some of those end up in the very hittable middle of the zone. The slider and curve are only for when he wants to get a wild pitch or PB.

At this point in time the SOX probably have the weakest starting staff of all the contenders.

Of the SOX current 5 starters, imho, none would make you feel comfortable starting a PO game. Not to worry though, because with these 5, a shot at the PO's would be very slim.
