Howard, meanwhile, keeps throwing fastball after fastball--whoops, he just throw a changeup in the middle of the zone and Bogaerts missed by a mile.

That's two Sox batters completely and totally fooled by a changeup in the middle of the zone. Both for K's.

Eovaldi has such a great repertoire, he doesn't need a changeup.

Three k's off that Howard changeup, which is a better pitch than Eovaldi has in his entire repertoire. Sox have no hits after 2.

Eovaldi with a breaking pitch on 1-1 to pitcher, now 1-2. The guy has had 5 career at bats, none in majors. He really tries to get cute sometimes.

OK, that's it. This ump is giving way more close calls to Howard than to Eovaldi. Anything borderline for Eovaldi has been a ball, but Howard has gotten several close ones.

Great at bat by Eovaldi, while led to the 2 run rally and lead.

Gotta love it. Eovaldi has struggled but shown some heart, especially getting that walk. Howard has been pretty good, but that walk hurt him. Sox haven't hit him hard, but have the two runs.

Eovaldi looking better, mixing his pitches and throwing more strikes and staying out of the middle of the zone.

By the way, Eovaldi getting that walk notwithstanding, that 2 run rally was thanks to me. Right before the Sox came to bat, I put the radio on my iphone which connects to my hearing aid. That one change in routine made all the difference. One of my absolute favorite recordings is Ella singing Max the Knife.

The Phils shouldn't panic about Harper's contract. The Dodgers FO has a message to other teams' FO: "Do you have a player who has a contract you want to get rid of? Just call us and we'll take the player and the contract off your hands.'

Radio announcers griping about the split screen. I agree.

I bet they don't say anything when they interview Cora

Well, they do lead MLB in attendance and probably have pretty good TV ratings. As I said on another thread, in his first season in Philly, Bryce Harper significantly increased their attendance.
