Ah I see, you brought in the human white flag in Brice. You thought you could avoid your bridge

Same way the Yankees gave up 4 to the tigers in game two. Except we gave up 7 lol. Happens.

It is sad to see Cabrera reduced to this. They are clearly hoping he can get 130 hits and 11 bombs to reach 3,000 and 500.

I said the same thing to my friend. Sad way to end a career

He's a 1st ballot HOFer anyway. If I was the GM on the Tigers, I would do what the Yanks did for ARod. Let him know he was gonna get cut a week in advance and let him ride out his final days in front of the fans before have a Miguel Cabrera day at home. Retire the jersey, give him a key to the city, etc.

Renfroe is a big league player. He has some big holes in his offensive game, but he produces enough power to be in the bigs. Cordero, however, is not proven big league timbre.

Renfroe is proven vs LHPs. He's never shown he can hit righties well for long stretches.

We need to use him in ways that sets him up for success.

Cordero's history was too scattered and incomplete to know much of anything. It's understandable they gave him a pretty long look. It's about time to send him down, but I wouldn't be surprised, if he gets another look, at some point this year- assuming he earns it by looking good at AAA.

I'd platoon Marwin & Renfroe, until Santana is ready for a call-up. Demote Cordero. DFA Brice. Call up Bazardo or Houck.

Stupid question. Feel free to laugh. What does a key to the city do? Is it just a trophy or does it actually open things lol? Like when Bart and Ralph get the key to Springfield

Houck got knocked around today. The problem is, everyone and their mother knows he belongs in the majors and a demotion can really f*** with a player's head. You hope he can work through it enough to be an option when he will invariably be needed

It's symbolic.

They must have told him they were limiting his innings, this year, so if the demotion hurts his ego, I'm worried.

It could just be he had a bad game. It happens to the very best. There doesn't have to be a pyschological reason for every bad outing.

Bobby Dalbec could well be proof that the peter principle--being promoted to your level of incompetence--even applies to baseball. He was very good at U. Arizona and at Portland (AA) and Pawtucket (AAA), but so far this year he is tied for the MLB lead in errors--4--at 1b and with just a little effort could get his OPS, currently approaching .300, down below the Mendoza line.

It's one month.

He had a good month, last year.

Let's see what May brings. I'm not even close to writing Dalbec off.

I did say Houck or Bazardo.

Yes I agree with the Houck part lol. Bazzardo looked sharp too though

Anyway. Barnes is beautiful. Night folks. See you tomorrow.

Where would we be without Barnes?

(This is the same guy most felt could never, ever, ever be a closer.)

Right?? Been with this team for what? 7 or 8 seasons. Looks like a totally different player it’s amazing

Just goes to show you: players can change, even after seemingly proving they can or cannot do something well.

There's still a long season ahead. Who knows? Maybe at some point, we are roasting Barnes and Praising Ottavino as our new closer.

Barnes has never been without great stuff. He has always shrunk in the moment and tries to be too fine. This year, he seems to be aware that his stuff is great and he is challenging hitters.
