Yankees Fire Pitching Coach Larry Rothschild

Like it was his fault the Yankee starters sucked.

Sounds like he got canned for roughly the same reason LeVangie did - too old school.

I know its a long shot, but David Cone please? Maybe even have an assistant PC, I think a few other teams have that

It was more Cashman's fault than his, but you are right.

It's certainly a sure way for David to go from a Yankee fan favorite to a Yankee fan target of abuse. :)

Him or even Pedro. I know he worked with Sevy a few years back and really turned him into a machine and I had read he even worked briefly with German at some point. I know Pedro is kind of like a lightning rod for any organization with his antics but he'd be interesting with some power pitchers we have.

The writing was on the wall when it was Cashman who had to convince Rothschild how to utilize Paxton’s pitch mix. As the story was reported, Cashman and his analytics team noted Paxton’s breaking ball was generating very weak contact. He recommended to Paxton and Rothschild to utilize it more, something they initially resisted. Once fully implemented, though, Paxton won 10 games in a row. If the GM has to recommend something to the pitching coach to get the most out of his player, then the coach is replaceable

Cashman had to find another scapegoat for his incompetence: first it was Girardi and now it is Rothschild. The Steinbrenner kids, welfare recipients who have accomplished nothing in life except inherit a fortune, don't know their ass from their elbow and so will go along with whatever Cashman decides.

Interesting thought: could Girardi hire Rothschild in Philly? They can compare notes on what a dud Brian Cashman is.
