Time to look at at thee inning oitchers/game as used by the Rays/ I'd love to see Weber-Sale-Workman every 4 days.

You pick another group!!

Two reasons why it's not a good idea. 1) The weak link in the chain is more likely to open the door than a decent starter would 2) You run down your pitching staff more quickly by using 4-5 pitchers every day, which makes extra inning games even more destructive.

And oh yes, did you say "4 inning" pitching time. What we have presently is 5 inning pitching time... how is this different. (I believe 5.1 is our current average starter outing)

Your starting pitcher is scheduled, and noted by the oppoosing manager. You know his starting lineup. He does not have 12 second basemen. You have flexibility.

Let's just go with a 17 man pitching staff and pitch everybody 2 innings every 3 days.
Very funny.

We're 6 1/2 games behind Tampa Bay, and 15 behind the Yankees. And we leas the league in runs scored. And you are happy to "stay the course".

By the end of this season, about half the starting pitchers in MLB will be called "Openers". The Sox will have only one "starter". He goes tonight. Rodrigues

The concept of the Opener is catching on. More and more team seem to be using it. I don't like it, but it may be something that's here to stay for a while.
