Cora might get a pass this year but someone needs to be shelled for the ineptitude of this team.

Cora isn't getting a pass from me, not with the way he failed to get his SP ready for the beginning of the season. Started off seven games under .500. Sure could use those seven games now.

That 2 run dinger by JDM might have been lucky or an accident because it was a good pitch. Most of Paxton's pitches have been good. Lots of movement and good command. ERod prefers to throw straight fastballs and doesn't have the control to get away with it.

I don’t care if it’s good or not. We should hit Paxton.

I don’t think they’re laid back at all. I just think the pitching sucks lol

It absolutely does suck, but I think a big part of the problem is our pitchers are too predictable on top of which none of them has good enough control to keep working the bottom of the zone. They are predictable because for the most part they don't have much variety in their repertoire. Neither Sale nor Price nor ERod has a curveball, for example, and all three depend on fastballs and cut fastballs although Sale does throw a fair number of sliders. He has a very good slider, but is throwing in to righty bats and he is not good at keeping it low.

Finally, ERod works low in the zone. Great, except everyone single one was a ball--hence the walk. He has never had great control, but in some games it has clearly been good enough.

Pretty long list of Yankees on the IL. If the Sox had that many, they'd be losing games right and left. Wait a second. They're already losing games right and left, including this one which would make 5 in a row.

Lets not kid ourselves about ERod....he might be the best we have but he is hardly "good". His ERA coming in is 4.13 with a WHIP of nearly 1.3. He has a lot of wins because the team tends to score runs for him.

Note. The flip side of walking guys, as ERod did in the first, is you get desperate to throw a strike, any strike, which is exactly what Torres was looking for.

To me they’re an underachieving baseball team. There’s talent on this team. Pitching could be better than what it has been.

The MFY added encarnacion, LeMahiue, Maybin, Britton, Octinino, Paxton to their team. That on top of already winning 100 games last season. What did the Red Sox do to improve their team?

I’m tired of hearing that this is still a playoff team. Just stop this nonsense. Zero pitching... ZERO!

The pitching has stunk this year no doubt and that includes the two guys making a lot of money.

They held a team meeting.

Where in the wide wide world of sports are you hearing that? Go to the Countdown to the Playoffs thread, and on the next to the last page you will read a statement from moonslav59, our eternal optimist, that all he sees is darkness.

I will grant you that in the OP I was sort of up beat, but why the hell not? Yes, the Sox are playing crappy right now and the pitching stinks. But there are still 54 games left and the Sox are only 3.5 and 4 games out of the 2d wild card.

Earlier this year a number of Red Sox were playing tight but they were playing tight because of their own little whaaaaaa fests:

- Mookie was "suffering" over the burden of all his hardware from last year and angst over how he could possibly get by on $20M per

- JD was worried about his option

- Beni had his own little issue because....."everybody is hitting but me, whaaaaaaaaaaa"

- fat f*** Pearce could not even manage to show up, his series MVP weighed on him so

- then later in the year Price simply could not resist rising to the bait, had to get back into it with Eck , "whaaaaaa my twitter feed....whaaaaaaa"

These are as always, the 25 players, 25 limos Red Sox. The only guys that have shown any ability to play together have ironically enough been the two stars of this particular edition of the Sox, X and Rafi. Anybody that thinks that is some accident (playing TOGETHER and being the stars) needs to think again.

Right now, they are so loose, so done I am surprised they can remember what game time is
