I’d be cool with a reunion with Happ or signing Kikuchi. Corbin got a lot more than most people thought after a singular great season.

Big mistake by the Yankees--they need Corbin. I doubt they can sign Eovaldi, not after Cashman dumped him when he needed TJ Surgery.

 

Maybe the Yankees will sign Manny Machado and trade Andujar for a SP. That might be their best strategy now that Corbin is gone.

 

They may just settle on Happ or Morton and a big pen arm.

I'm high on Corbin, his peripherals are stunning. He was a bit of a late bloomer but I think he will be a #2 (not quite an ace but better than a middle of the rotation starter) for a few years.

 

By not going all out for Corbin, I'm inclined to think that the Yankees plan to spend big on Machado.

Apparently the Yankees didn't even make a formal offer to Corbin once they heard he was looking for 'Darvish money'.

 

Some Yankee fans are freaking out because they think Hal plans to be cheap again.

It isn't Hal. Cashman has been the one to hold back on big deals only to have agents go over his head. In the recent struggle for power, Cashman essentially made it clear that he would leave if that happened again. This is Cashman's club and with how he rebuilt our team into a 100 win team, you have to trust him

Cashman, like Theo, does a very good job when given the autonomy to do so. As a Red Sox fan, I'm really hoping Hal or Levine or someone overrules Cashman.
