Watching BJ out there on the bases is a testament to the wicking capabilities of modern materials. In my day a pitcher on the base paths would always don a jacket even in severe heat because the materials just held all that sweat against your body and no matter how hot it was, standing around out there the slightest breeze would start to give you a chill. Sort of desired the first breeze that went through you but not so much for a pitcher a couple of minutes in. I can't remember the last time I saw a pitcher put on his jacket out on the bases.
