Really tough on the manager. I really don't fault Cora here. He has his pen to think about. The problem with the knuckler that is on an off night is that there is every reason to worry that we will see another headed for orbit.

********. What Cora has done tonight is unconscionable. It was clear in the 2d inning that Wright didn't have it. He should have had someone warming up from the 3d inning on. He's got an extra reliever, by the way.

So Cora has a 10 run rule. He just let Wright throw away the game. Ridiculous. There is no reason to leave Wright out there this long when he clearly had nothing. This was a very bad decision.

Was reasonable all the way up to pitching to Cruz. No reason to think we are not going to score more runs. But pitching to Cruz with Wright with two on was sheer insanity.

Everyone knows I defend Cora on every single move, but not tonight. This was rookie manager at his worst and failing to understand that a knuckler gone bad is incredibly vulnerable.

10 runs, 5 of which belong to Cora. Shameful.

3 back with Erod going tomorrow .Time to understand we will likely face these Mariners in a one game playoff 85 percent chance if we don't get significant upgrades .

The problem was he didn't have anyone warming up at the first sign of trouble in the 4th. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Finally, we agree on an instance where the manager has screwed up. I used to mock the 7 run rule. This was a 10 Spot. WTF!

Wright is not only getting killed, he's trying to get his players killed also.

I agree on that too.

I might add that of course neither Wright nor Vazquez was going to suggest in any way that Wright didn't have it tonight. That are both partly complicit.

You cannot, repeat, cannot trust a knuckler after that first inning. What the hell were those guys thinking? Plus two more in the 2d. Idiocy.

Funny thing is that Johnson has not exactly been dazzling this year. So Cora is still not willing to use a "valued" reliever having actually put them in the position of being down 5. Cora is sort of an odd duck for my money. Sort of throws them in a hole and then piles the dirt on.

I'm so mad I'm rethinking all the other times I defended him.

Don’t be too hard on Cora. Despite all the date and analytics at their fingertips, there just is not a lot of brainpower in MLB dugouts.
