Just saw on scoreboard that Holt is in for JD and JD’s spot is due next inning. I noticed him doing something with his back after the first swing in his last AB. Did they say anything on TV?

Hate to say it, but great play by Iggy 'no' Pop, but he's still an a-hole.

One time either last year or the year before that, Iggy's first baseman bailed him out on a hideous throw and the guy smiled and just patted his chest like "love ya' teammate". If you could read lips you could see Iggy tell him to f-off looking like he would as soon piss on the guy. The guy was so not surprised by that. He just grinned back and doubled over a bit laughing as if to say "yup...thats the Iggy I know".

Every team ends up with 2/5 starters convalescing at some point in the season. We already have one. I am thinking the Sox are not hot to move Johnson or Valazquez into the rotation for any extended periods and wanted to know what they had in Beeks. Just based on what Beeks learned tonight I would not call this a write off. At least the Sox likely feel they have another option in Beeks. Not sure I would try him as a relief pitcher up here. Can never have enough pitching. But you do want to have some idea of what you have before you are making decisions.

Will knock me over with a feather if we are not down to as far as 3 of our opening day starters at some point this season if not worse.

I don’t think the Sox feel they have another option in Beeks. He just faced an awful lineup and got himself lit up. I think this was a showcase, to be honest with you. I think the Sox hoped Beeks would throw a gem, they’d send him down then try to puff up his worth in a trade. It backfired clearly. I don’t think you’ll see him again this season unless injuries mount

If i'm Eck i'm punching OB in the face right about now. OB seems to be rubbing that Gibson HR in his face. Keeps bringing it up.

If ECK punches OB in the face, then I can say "I don't believe what I just saw."

Oh come on. That rot should not be in a game thread. Save it for the regular forum. Geez do you ever give up? Actually I am sure the answer is no.

Yeah me too.

Well, I believe we're another bat away from fielding a truly lethal lineup even with Mookie coming back. I hope we can maybe swing a deal for Miggy. He's 35 but can still hit. Put him at #5 behind JD and we're in business.

I truly doubt the SOX are going after Miggy, but getting Betts back definitely makes the line-up more lethal.

I don't mind throw away games, and we have to see if AAA talent can help later in the season or just what they have. And I get giving the starters another rest day as it will help later in the season.

But I'm not sure why they paired Beeks with Swihart.

Swi caught him in the minors.

I believe that when Beeks struck out weak hitting Jones to lead off the game, it gave Beeks and Swi unjustified confidence in his fastball. The rest is history. Edited by SPLENDIDSPLINTER
