Morton is really pitching good. It would be a kick in the Jewels, if the Sox win this game. Important game, gets these kids minds right.

Lets Do It!

I am in dire need of a good start from Morton for my fantasy team (not our league). How about a scoreless shutout until Morton comes out, then a 7-0 Sox win? Win. Dance. Repeat. x2

At least we have our RHer going tonight. This place has got to be a graveyard for LH pitchers. Why do you think the Astros rotation is chock full of RH pitchers?

Thunder! Never, under any circumstances, do you put your fantasy team ahead of the Red Sox. Never!

The Sox need to score against Morton early and often!

Get it done, boys!

ESPN game tonight, but at least it's starting a half hour earlier than the usual Sunday Night Game.

7:30 start time.

Benintendi LF

Bogaerts SS

JD Martinez DH

Moreland 1B

Nunez 3B

Bradley CF

Holt 2B

Swihart RF

Leon C

Against righty Morton, lefty Devers is out and Nunez in, but Sox still have six lefty bats, including the 6 thru 9 hitters. JBJ batting 6th.

With Betts not playing and Devers not hitting, that line-up probably gives the SOX the best chance of winning.

It is amazing that with a constantly changing lineup and multiple regulars hitting below .200 , plus Devers errors/K's, that this team is still baseball's best win machine. Take it and be glad. It may be a long season but it will still come down to Astros, Yankees, Red Sox, a non descript AL Central team, maybe the Mariners hang on. The AL has 4 teams with win %'s above .617 (Astros, Mariners, Yankees, red Sox)) and the NL has exactly one ( Brewers) . I don't think Pedroia can be counted on except as a spot starter/PH'er. Probably will need to get a lot more out of Nunez and Holt to keep the bus rolling. Maybe Devers can get hot at some point or maybe he needs some retraining in R.I.

The overall pitching picture is far from clear and I'mm sure DD is looking at the possibilities of picking up a veteran starter later in summer . Both Fister and Peavy might be available.

The average winning percentages around MLB will get somewhat better over time but for all the wrong reasons. Somebody has to win every game as there are no ties in baseball. So once the awful teams start to play each other more often some will turn out to be just slightly better than totally disgusting. Its a hell of a world!

Gotta love players like Moreland who made the day with that 2 out, 2 run shot. Also they ran Morton's pitch count up to 28 so he may not last as long as the Astros were hoping.

What's the deal with Bogaerts hitting low .200's since May 1 ? Hot start, DL, can't even move Benintendi up after his lead off double. Now just let Porcello go on cruise control and this one is over, we wish.

Actually the way Cora handles rest for players really does suit Moreland. May not be many players that it suits more than Mitch. He has been in 43 games but on 33 game starts. Obviously he will get more starts with Hanley gone. But too much playing time early in the season can be an issue for him later. He is on a really nice path at the moment.

I got nothin' good to say about the Springer HR. That was a cheap chiselling, 2018, short porch, nothingburger.
