The Yanks are toast.

Cut 'em up and make croutons out of 'em!

I am not so sure of this but would be thrilled to see the Sox pound them down further.

When I read the above, I was sure I must be mistaken. Unfortunately, I went back and reread pages 3, 4, and 5 in which in there are a string of invectives directed at Porcello as if to say nothing had changed. The particular topic was the solo dinger by the Jays in the 3d. No, you didn't say he was a having a lousy start, but you sure as heck implied that and gave zero credit at that point for going 3 innings while giving up 1 run. Finally on page 5 I said you were missing the self-evident reality that Porcello was pitching well indeed. You never came back and said he was. In fact, I had thought that after the first 2 innings because in the recent 4 game loss string that's when disaster struck in the first three games. Thus the solo dinger in the 3d didn't bother me a bit. But, if you say I just misunderstood your intent/meaning, fine. I apologize for not reading you right.

The fact is that Porcello has sucked this year, and has given a lot HRs. Thinking a catastrophe after that HR --early in the game, in a ball park which is friendly for hitters-- was a no brainer ---even if a700 didn't think about it.

Said that, let it go... we won and life is great man. We are 5 1/2 game above the Yankees.:)

Porcello is inconsistent in his command. Not sure why but he just does not get it done much of the time.

Although he does have some good starts.

I'm okay, I guess.

The Sox are one of the "haves" in MLB.

They have a chance this year and that is what I look for.

Great to hear you are oks Spud. I'm in that bandwagon too, I like our chances this year. If somehow we can fix our lack of fundamentals and defense entering to POs, our chances are genuine IMO.

If you don't know how to read me, I will set you straight, but don't tell me what I am saying after I correct you. That's annoying.

Porcello has had trouble with the HR ball since we got him. He gave up a fair # last year too. That is his Achilles heel. And I will make sport of that. Humor is good. Mentioning that doesn't equate to him having a bad night. In the inning when he had the bases loaded, I said nothing negative. I said that he would have to get tough to get out of it. I also bemoaned that it would be nice if one of those groundballs were hit at someone. None of that is a criticism.

In baseball anything can happen, but let the best team win.

We all know who that is.

Sweep the Bronx bums.

But what does any of this matter?

It's a f***ing game thread. People say all types of s*** in the spur of the moment. a700 is being entirely consistent with what he always says about Porcello.

Station can say whatever he wants to say at any time ( even if he omits a word or two now and then ).

What or who gives anyone the right to question another poster's observation of game play and such?

You dicks take yourselves way too seriously.

This is just a fan page about a game.

Too true, unfortunately. Game threads should have a high tolerance level for off the cuff commentary. I overstepped, but only because I myself was really into what was going on and early on thought Porcello just might have it tonight. His last time, Sale's last time before last night, and ERod's last time were all disasters which started early, not late. So, me, I was thinking, "just give us 2 innings and some hope." And that's what happened. Thus, unlike almost everyone else, that solo dinger in the 3d didn't bother me much at all.

I will be happy with a split this weekend against the Yankee as that should end their Division hopes. Anything more than a split and I will be jumping for joy. If we lose the first game, TalkSox needs to press MVP into service.

Winning the series will give us the pennant. This series gave us again confidence, and they are just in the opposite mood. Hopefully we can capitalize it this weekend.

Do or die for the Yanks, have to play it like Play-off atmosphere. After series only 26 games for the Yanks, and will have to rely on other teams, to make a difference.

Split good for Sox.

3 out of 4 Great for Sox, OK for Yanks.

4 out 4 Fantastic for Sox, Almost ends it for Yanks.

Yanks almost have to go for it this weekend.

DH loss by Yanks was HUGE!

This is do-or-die weekend for the Yankees. They cannot afford a spit, and the argument can be made that they almost HAVE to win all four.

If the two teams split the Sox will have 25 games left and a 5 1/2 game lead on Monday morning. If they can "split" (win 13) those remaining games the Yankees will have to go 19/26 just to tie them.

IMO the Sox will win more than 13 of those 25 because of the HFA and the weakness of the teams they're playing. It's also below their season-long winning %-age. I see 13 as the minimum number they'll win and each one above that 13 makes the Yankees path that much harder.

The Yankees desperately need a sweep this weekend but to get that they have to go through Chris Sale.

Given our 57% winning percentage and the Yankees 54%, a 2-2 split is statistically the most likely outcome and the one I too expect.

The problem is the Guardians, .5 games ahead of us for the 2d best record and home field advantage, are playing 4 against the Tigers. Statistically, that should probably be a split too, but the Guardians are hot right now, so 3-1 is probably more likely. It they do that, I think we need to do the same in NYC, so that is what I'm really hoping for.

This 3 game sweep was largely thanks to our starters--Pom, Sale, and Porcello, who had three quality starts and gave up a total or 4 runs in 19.2 innings. I think that's pretty important given the previous 4 game loss streak and the lousy starts in the first 3 of those.

Worrisome, however, is that our lineup couldn't hit the Toronto starters. They only gave up 3 earned runs in 3 starts, but fewer innings, around 17 I think. We feasted on the Jays bullpen.

The Yankees are struggling right now, but for the season their overall pitching is almost as good as ours and their hitting is better.
