This experiment should be over--noW This is not a LOST game.Sale goes tomorrow, use the pen.

This game is gonna be thrown unless they score the next inning. He is going to throw 120 pitches and get release.

This guy is one of the worst pitchers I've ever seen in the MLB

I think that's a huge exaggeration. This is his first MLB appearance. I can think of guys who got roughed up worse in their first appearance, as well as some guys who got roughed up equally or slightly less and went on to have decent careers. Calling him one of the worst you've ever seen after 5 MLB innings is a little silly.

What did he do? This was not a favorable matchup despite Gray's having a less than stellar year.

Besides starting him and leaving him out there to get rocked. Nothing.

He's facing a terrible offense that doesn't even have their best hitter in the lineup (Alonso). Everything has been hit hard and he's been gifted a few outs from Rajai Davis who seems intent to see how many times he can get thrown out on base paths.A's coming into today had one guy batting above .260 and it was Chad Pinder (whoever the hell he even is). His control has been shaky, little to no movement and he serves meatballs.

Yeah, as of now, he's one of the worst I've ever seen.

It's like he went into the night going, "I'm going to try my hardest to put a L in the loss column."
I don't want to credit him with coming up with a strategy and then executing it.

Not sure if it was Farrells call or not, but I see no reason why they pushed Sale back a day when he would've been pitching on regular rest, to let this guy start.

Scott threw 5 pitches, Barnes 3, Ross 9, Kelly 10. It wasn't like everyone had long outings or threw a lot of pitches.

Then maybe you should've pitched Chris sale like he was scheduled to pitch. You know, the guy who typically goes eight innings.

Sonwhat would you have done differently?
This separating Sale and Porcello nonsense was not an urgent matter. They could have done that another time when they had a better pitcher to take the turn.

Was this actually a thing? Why do Sale and Porcello even need to be separated?

Farrell

They just won 2 against a good Cards team and need to carry the momentum, then this. He's such a tool.

It is a thing. I hear the lantern jawed doofus talking about it. I don't remember the reason for it.

I just don't understand, you should skip your 5th starter anytime you can, like in this situation where everyone would've been on normal rest, what the hell does separating Sale and Porcello do? It doesn't make the team better or anything. Just pure stupidity.

Red Sox Gameday Live Red Sox’s Starting Rotation Will Have New Look For Series Vs. Athletics by NESN Video on Wed, May 17, 2017 at 7:53PM 3,963 Share this: The Boston Red Sox will open a four-game series against the Oakland Athletics on Thursday night with a different look in their starting rotation. The Red Sox have announced that pitcher Hector Velazquez will make his first major league start on Thursday night and Chris Sale will be pushed back to Friday night.
