Odorizzi has a great formula. Get the first pitch strike (I think I heard someone say, 16 out of 17), then throw nothing but fastballs just off the neck.

Since the Angel game on the WC trip he's been pitching real good. Don't want to jinx him though.

When I went to that D-Backs game recently, the crowd would always do this thing when a high popup was going to be caught by the other team; they would make a loud cheering noise that got increasingly louder as the ball got closer to being caught, to distract the fielder from catching it. It actually appeared to work in that game on Holt's fly to short right when the fielders miscommunicated and it fell between them (coincidentally, that was a pop in the same spot as Ramirez's hit just now). I wonder if the crowd did it again here. At the very least, the loud noise thing makes it harder for players to communicate about who is going to get the ball.

Watching the Rays broadcast just for nostalgia, wow I forgot how bad these broadcasters are. They never shut up.
