according to NESN, he was scheduled to leave early but his flight got cancelled due to weather so he was stuck waiting for the team charter....

Re this business of the day game on Thursday...

 

Although it screwed the Sox this time it's not the worst idea in the world, if it were played as part of a day/night doubleheader. If every team were required to play 2 day/night DH's a month it could shorten the season by 10 days and still maintain the 162 game schedule.

 

Separate admissions would insulate the FO's from taking a financial hit - if there actually were a hit, because more parents would be tempted to take their kids to the day games - and it would insulate the players from having to take a pay hit because of a shorter season. And the WS is over by mid-October, which is still too late in the fall but it's better than late October.

 

Other than a really freak occurrence like what's happening today, what's the downside?
