I cant do spicy food. I remember when a mexican co-worker of mine made me "mild" salsa, it literally had my mouse on fire and me s*** so excessively I thought I would need medical attention. What exactly is sour beer?

 

Sour beer is, well, sour. Usually 'spontaneously fermented', sometimes kettle sour (Goze!). Goze is very popular now. A little salty and sour, light and refreshing. But I love the 'lambic' style that is spontaneously fermented. usually a blend of oak-barrels aged up to 3 years, dry, very complex and 'funky'. Sooooooo good, but oh boy does it wreck me the next day!

what kind of sour beers do you recommend? are they like IPAS? I know some of those are sour and i've been liking them lately. lately when i go to liquor store i grab a random 6 pack of a beer ive never tried before

I wanted to be a pitcher. I'm 6' 4" and overweight. Do you think Farrell could give me a chance. I'm just 34 and throw a 69 mph heater. Also i'm dominican.

I'd be a submarine pitcher but i don't know how to swim...

I think i'm in better shape than Sandoval. I'll get Papi's number and make him a call. Maybe he can hook me up with Farkell.

Yea that's what im gonna do. Maybe then i'll stomp his feet with my 350 pounds and we can get rid of him.

Anderson Valley makes a great Gose. For other sours, I'd suggest any lambic: Boon Oude Gueuze (mariage Parfeit, etc), Lindemans Cuvee renee, Hanssen's, de troche oude gueuze, timmermans limited edition oude gueuze or oude kriek, Oude Beersel, St. Louis gueuze, Tilquin.

 

For Great american sours/saisons, I'd highly recommend Allagash (lots of sours, allagash.com should give you a good idea of what is available), Oxbow, Cascade, Wicked Weed, Almanac, etc

 

Be warned, outside of Gose, sours can get very expensive! (as in $10+ for a small bottle! Just about every sour is single-bottle, small or large format, but not 4 or 6 pack). But it's worth it occasionally!

 

Sours are a very wide spectrum too. There are many different styles; fruited vs non-fruited; aged vs fresh; barrel aged; super sour vs less aggressive but more funk; and some are just not all that good. So don't get turned off if you try one (or a bunch) that you don't like, there's a ton of variety.
