Clear runaway this year...and for 22M less;)

yes sir. this is 2 years in a row that JE has gotten slaughtered by our much cheaper CFer. and now he enters the middle of his contract where he will lose another step or two....

Another difference that barely shows up in the "Tracker" is the difference in defense. JBJ made a catch last night before Sanchez' HR that saved a run in a game that ended up being decided by one run.

In addition - something that doesn't show up in the scorebook - players are very hesitant to run on JBJ's arm where the same runners are taking advantage of the fact that Ellsbury has a noodle arm.

I'm now embarrassed to admit that I wanted Ellsbury back, just not at what the Yankees were willing to pay for him. Thanks, Hank!

true. the only defense stats that I include are Outfield Assists (a positive) and Errors (a negative).

current dwar for each: JE 1.1 JBj 1.4

here are my 2 favorite stats:

Age: JE: 33.0 JBj: 26.1

Salary: JE: $21,142,857 JBj: $547k

When can we conclude that it's better to have JBJ as your starting center fielder than Ellsbury?

my answer would be the day JE signed that insane contract with the EE.

These threads will live on to remind all those Red Sox fans that said we should have outbid NYY on that contract (and there were MANY). These threads will live on to remind all those MFY fans that said they loved the JE signing and the Sox were a 2nd rate organization for not resigning their "stud" CFer to a LTC.....

Neither of those things were said here to my recollection.

It's a long done deal. The Yankees threw money at a guy and he did not work out.

That never happens to the Sox.
