Bucholz has been so horrendous that he has all but ruined his trade value. He is under contract for 2015 with team options for 2016 and 2017. The 4 year contract that he was given after 2011 turned out to be a poor decision.

It's really a shame. After the season he had last year to come out here and stink it up like this. It kills the entire momentum giving up big runs in the first couple innings. Unfortunatrly with how inconsistent our offence is our pitchers most nights need to be perfect in order for us to get a win.

Buchholz did well in the beginning of last season but wasnt a big contributor in the end. I wish they would have done to him what they did to AJ Pierzynski, which seemed to work, get rid of him and give a chance to the new guys and the effective WS pitchers. Lackey and Peavey had some rough games but when they saw that the team was coming together they got their s*** together. But then comes Buchholz and inexplicably gives up three runs right after Big Papi hits a three run homer. Just going completely against the momentum we had built up.

Since he appears to be no longer even a double digit hr guy, he has to hit 300 and be an on-base machine. At least 290.

Clay has pitched only two close to full seasons. In 2012 it was a bad one, in 2010 it was an amazing one as he had a 2.33 era. Lester has essentially had 7 full seasons (assuming he doesnt get injured this year) and only one was bad.

Well we all knew that .500 baseball after the break and to the deadline wasn't going to cut it . Best they can do now is 7-6 .

You went from having a lefty starter with promising stuff who looked like he could be a #2 in the bigs in the future, to a guy who has completely lost it. Instead of taking his new role with a vengeance, he pouted and sucked. He will likely be dealt for 5 cents on the dollar.

This game was a total embarrassment. I can see the Sox having some difficulty in hitting the knuckle ball so an offensive outburst was probably not in the cards. But only one run?

 

I'll be watching all of the games for the rest of the season. I had hoped that the Sox would at least come close to playing .500 ball. Obviously my expectations are too high.

 

I'm going to be pissed if the Sox just play out the string. What happened to playing for pride? How about playing for personal achievement at least?

 

I read that the legendary former Cy Young winner Dickey had won two of his 8 wins against the Sox coming into the game. It's bizarre that he now has three of his nine wins against the Sox. Oye!
