ESPN is reporting Ellsbury pulled a Damon and signed with the $pankees for Crawford $$$$. Unless the $panks are full of #@it that would mean that Cano is done in NY. I wouldn't put it pass them that their reaction to a Sox championship is to try to buy another one for themselves.

Don't say never on Cano.

My problem here with the sox is that they are acting like a small market team

Yeah, the fact that they're sure to field a 160+ payroll next year and the fact that it's December 3rd are certainly indicative of penny-pinching tactics.

They just paid 8 million for a guy who will essentially be a stopgap. Small market teams would have penciled in Butler and called it a day.

Well its not close to the yankees payroll.Does this team granderson

is doned as well? Sox cannot decimated their lineup with just rookies

What does "doned" even mean?

Ellsbury got overpaid but he will make an impact for the yankees.I like his defense in centerfield.

I am not surprised by the yankees tactics. This is just the beginning

Considering the way he spells and the way you spell, plus your complete and utter lack of logical thinking ability, it's pretty clear who's the idiot between the two of you.

It's not the spelling mistakes. Those i can tolerate. The text speak, lack of spacing after punctuation and general lack of coherence, not so much.

Skanks fans are panicking because they are sure this means they're letting Cano go. General sentiment on their board is verrrry negative.

Can everyone step back and realize that aside from the money, this hurts a little. Let's all admit it.

That being said solid baseball move not getting involved for that kind of money. Loved Ells, thought he was a game changer when he was healthy, but I think we can spend our money better than that. I would rather have Matt Kemp at age 29 for 6-128 (hint, hint Ben ;) then Ells at age 30 for 8-169.

Let's grab Tanaka ... deal Dempster for prospects, sign Napoli ... JBJ has a high ceiling and he will go great in CF next season.

Red Sox really don't need another starter. I'd see what the Marlins want for Stanton.

I like Stanton ... what will it cost in prospects ... a lot.

Jon Heyman sounds so giddy reporting this on MLBN right now. Talking about how much the Yankees enjoy taking a player from the Sox.

Jon is a former Yankee beat writer--most of those guys who work for the NY based networks are from NY and seem to be Yankee fans.

This one is not a big deal. Ellsbury is one of those expendable, with JBJ in the wings, and the contract he got from NY had to be ridiculous for the Yankees to get him. Plus the Sox get a supplemental 1st round pick from team that didn't make the playoffs.

The Yankees are behaving in a slightly desperate way. It figured they had to spend their way out of their hole. I'm not sure Ellsbury is the best way to spend their money. After all, Gardner is pretty close to the same player unless they can turn Ells into Babe Ruth. Better spent on Cano, but I understand he turned down the same contract from the Yankees.

Ha. What will the World Champion Red Sox do next?

Your supplemental draft choice isn't technically from us. All we lost was a second rounder to sign Ellsbury. Listen, it's a ridiculous contract, a major overpay and probably an albatross in the final 2-3 yrs of the deal. For 2014, it is a solid move. We'll see how it goes after that
