Finally, we have the details of Brian McCann‘s vesting option, courtesy of Joel Sherman. The option for 2019 is worth $15M and vests with a) 1,000 plate appearances from 2017-2018, 90 games as a catcher in 2018, and c) if he’s not on the DL at the end of 2018. All of those conditions must be met. If the option vests, McCann can void it and become a free agent. For all intents and purposes, McCann must still be a starting catcher in 2018 for the option to kick in. Pretty sweet deal if you ask me.
