I don't think Kapstein wants to leave the booth. Thank goodness that they didn't have him sit in for Remy.

He shared a lot of insight and knowledge but man he was non-stop.

This game is probably a good example of why paying to bring a knuckleballer to the AL generally and the AL East specifically does not make much sense.

Rare for a knuckleballer to not at least leave one or two up and doing nothing. But in the NL you could get away with it. Not as often likely to see a dinger go screaming past your ears. But here, Dickey has not made more than a couple mistakes with the knuckleball today. But still and all he has given up 5 runs through seven innings. If anything his ERA is on the way up today.

You can have a knuckler without paying big money for him and have that work out these days. Wake certainly was a worthwhile contributor at reasonable money. But giving up guys and paying big money to bring one to the AL East just makes no sense at all.

The guy is very knowledgeable-- a valuable member of the team FO and a huge fan too. What a great job he has!! I'd take the job just to get his seat. LOL!! I'd even wear the dopey looking headset.

Yeah and like Eck mentioned, he seems to be working faster. Thank God for that!

Remember Beckett, Buccholz, Dice-k, Papelbon...how long they take to throw a pitch? LOL

Davis is such a pain in the neck. Glad this team went nowhere. I could see where Reyes and Davis could make life miserable for pitchers if they were constantly getting on in front of big boppers.

Funny how we have two guys pitching from the left side that are kinda' the same guy. Thornton and Frankie both sort of lose it all of a sudden more times than not...and once they do lose it there seems to be no getting it back. Its like you are hoping to survive them more than anything else.

If we had to watch all Red Sox games in Spanish, we would become fluent faster than if we used Rosetta Stone. LOL!

Ha ha!

Everyone loves Koji! The Hispanic broadcaster was so excited when he introduced Koji!!

Nice win! Nice to get some faith back in Doubront. Nice outing.

Koji hardly ever throws balls. That is probably what really separates him from other guys with swing and miss stuff. His pitch stays in the zone for the most part. The hitter is just left in no mans land. He is screwed whether he swings or not and the whole inning is over before you know it.

Hitters must loath the idea of letting a pitch from Koji go by as it is mostly like just giving away a strike. Usually if they do let one go by it is with an 0-1 count. So, letting one go by usually puts them at 0-2 against a guy that just does not walk anybody. That alone probably makes taking such a painful experience. Now the hitter is down 0-2 and probably just feels like heading back to the bat rack.

Tuesday: RHP John Lackey (10-12, 3.44) vs. RHP Tyler Chatwood (7-5, 3.36), 8:40 p.m., NESN

Wednesday: RHP Jake Peavy (11-5, 4.02) vs. RHP Roy Oswalt (0-6, 7.71), 8:40 p.m., NESN.

Remember when people actually wanted Roy Oswalt? Looks like the Sox dodged a bullet on that one.

Oof. No kidding. Looks like the Sox get an automatic W for game 2... unless the infamous reverse lock decides to come into play.

Lackey throwing vs Chatwood, then Peavy vs Oswalt in Colorado. Follow that series with Buchholz Lester Lackey, our top 3 against the Orioles without Machado.

I like our chances to go 4-1 in that span.

You know, for some odd reason I hadn't thought of the fact that we'll be playing the O's without Machado. Plus, like you said, we've got our playoff rotation lined up; no filler. And by then the O's won't have anything to play for except the joy of knocking us out of the #1 seed. We do know they enjoy that role, but you have to like our chances to rack up a bunch of wins here. Hopefully starting tonight vs. S. Tyler Chatwood III, Esq.
