Tired of losing, this team is built to win. That's exactly what we're going to do tonight.

Jeremy Guthrie(12-7, 3.96 ERA)

WMB is back in the lineup tonight and will do some damage. Doubront had a great outing in his last start vs the D-Backs, expect the same vs the Royals. Just get this win and go on a streak please. Time to cool off the Royals who are getting too much credit imo. Winning seven straight series is good no matter how you put it, but they did face some s***** teams.

Infuriating

I was just listening to the radio and hearing that Felix is likely to pitch differently than Lester and Peavy had the last couple nights. Apparently like everything else seems to come to the Sox brain trust late, it has come to their attention that the Royals hitters are diving out across the plate and getting complete plate coverage with impunity. Why? Because the Sox don't have a starter that will pitch inside. But this have been happening since at least the D-backs series. In truth it has been happening since before the D-backs series. It just got so bad in that series that I felt compelled to post something about it. However I would guess that as bad as it was in the D-backs series, other team scouts have noticed and clued teams in that the Sox pitchers simply refuse to pitch inside.

Peavy actually did try to get inside some but I could not tell if he was just wild last night.

Sox need to wake up and figure out that they are in a dog fight. It has all been fun and games and "isn't it fun to win". But if they don't smarten up soon, they are gonna' find out that losing is not much fun at all. Teams are coming out now with the eyes narrowed, loaded for bear. WAKE UP.

The only thing I don't like about the Sox choosing WMB over XB is that the Sox had proclaimed early on that Will would not come back until he was ready to stay. That may come back to haunt them now. I had thought that Will looked too comfortable for a rookie 3rd baseman while he was up here. He still looked too comfortable and not focused enough in the few times I saw him in Pawtucket. Granted he started to generate some better numbers in Pawtucket. But, this is a hard hard game. Nothing easy about MLB. I hope he is not sitting here now, fat, dumb and happy thinking that the Sox MUST keep him here based on what was said when they sent him down. You have work to do young man.

Well douby has certaintly been pitching inside. Has been effective when they are inside and right around the strike zone

Why cant we have efficient innings anymore?

Considering our pitching staff was leading the league in walks for a long time, I don't think they are used to efficient innings. We are also probably near/at the bottom for complete games too.

Very true. We rarely have super dominant performances by our pitchers. Like those a kernsaw or a price or a hernandez could generate.

Man, so far we don't have a single pitcher that has looked at all comfortable in this hell hole. Lester had a terrible 1st inning. Peavy has always hated it here and never got settled. Felix does not even look like he has his mechanics under control.
