Yep. Any other agent and I'd say we have a decent shot at re-signing Ells either before the season ends or during the Red Sox exclusive window. With Boras, I'm not holding my breath. He's going to want to see what free agency offers and probably won't give us a shot to match or exceed. Only way we lock up Ells early is if we break the bank which I don't want either.

Gomes is like a mixture of all the best parts of every clubhouse guy the Sox have had in the last ten years, plus some actual hitting talent.

Although he walked and i do thank nap for a terrific april and that epic walk off hr against the yanks, some of his swings look just about as good as mine. Many times he lounges forward and off balance and swings with a very loopy, non compact swing,

I think the best thing that can be said for him at this point is that he's been serviceable. Not much of an asset but not a black hole either.

Just saw this stat line posted by an Oakland beat writer... Josh Reddick since July 21, 2012: .203 Average in 147 games. Not that it makes the Bailey trade look any better but it least Reddick's not exactly lighting the world on fire either. It's kind of a meh trade at this point for both sides I think.
