Let's just hope the bats and the bullpen are warm. The Phillies offense should be in rough shape without Utley-- hopefully they're smart enough to pitch around Howard.

Ryan Howard has a .719 OPS. He's hitting righties at .737 and has a sub .300 OBP overall. Why pitch around him?

The Red Sox have a bad habit of pitching directly at aging and declining power hitters and getting smashed. It seems like every loss there is an Adam Dunn or Carlos Pena that we say "Oh, that guy is washed up, he's hitting like crap" and it goes badly.

Posted

That happens because they throw mistake pitches. The bomb Dunn hit off Lester was probably the worst pitch he's thrown this season. What they need to do is keep Howard off the bleachers by pitching him low and outside.

Of course, that means Aceves is going to feed him fastballs up and over the plate so he can launch a couple of 'em.

Good thing Tuesday's game is in an American League ballpark, Cliff Lee's been one of the Phillies best hitters. Here's a run down of their healthy position players.

Wow. That has to be the first time a pitcher has led the team in batting average.

Walter Johnsonn, Red Ruffing and Orel Hershiser all did it.

What does everyone think of the today's uniforms? USMC digital camo.

I love them, especially the jerseys. The lettering and numbers are camo. The hats are cool too.

I bought one of the hats yesterday. I do think they are unique. I like how the proceeds go to a good cause and support the troops. I got B-STRONG stitched onto the back of my hat as well. It looks pretty cool. I am just not use to sporting the camo look. I do like the jerseys as well.

I bought the Stars and Stripes hat last year. I might have to go after this one too. Getting the B-STRONG on it is a pretty good idea too.

It is not a bad deal at all. I paid about $43 dollars at Lids for it. The stitching doesn't cost a whole lot, as long as you have the Lids card. The hat is $38 in the store. It would have been over $50 without the Lids card. It definitely looks pretty cool, and is something a lot of people will not have if you have extra money to do it.

I only ask for 3 things:

1) A win

2) Aceves not sucking

3) Papelbon blowing a save. That way I can bump a thread, and have some fun.

Aceves not sucking might be asking too much. By the way, why is he back?

As a matter of fact, I have the Lids card. The one I bought last year was right before July 4th, when they wore it again. Thank for the advice, I'll go get it later this week. I don't have time today.

My list is shorter.

1) A win.

2) No major injuries.

No problem at all.

I don't care what happens today (aside from players getting injured), as long as we get the W, that is all that matters. We need to keep up this hot streak.

Iglesias over Ciriaco and Carp getting another start. Drew is hitting 6th. Hopefully we see some good results.

A little late on the lineup.

I wonder what the lineup is going to look like on Wednesday and Thursday when we play in Philly. Big Papi at 1st and Napoli in RF? I am assuming it would be a good time to give Big Papi a night off one day and Napoli a night off the other. I don't imagine Napoli would catch a couple of games, unless they really want both bats in the lineup.

I am wondering if they will have Nap catch at least one of the games to keep him in the lineup. Who knows, in all likelihood they will split it though.

I do think they will call up Bradley tomorrow and option Aceves. We need another OF that can play defense.
