Rubby has had another atrocious start. He has been pretty bad in his last 3 starts. Two of them were disastrous. His ERA is at 3.90after tonight. Webster's first start at AAA since being optioned back was a bomb too. And to boot Middlebrooks is not finding himself either. The help we need this season will not be coming from our own system.

Henry Owens started a no-hitter in the minors, going 6+, with the relievers finishing up the job. I'd add him to the untouchable list... he seems to impress and impress and impress.

Webster pitched a real stinker last night. 1 1/3 innings 3 hits 5 BB and 7 ER. He is not going to provide us with any help this season. His AAA ERA is 4.40. But if we take out all the bad games, he's a stud.

I said it at the time and I stand by it. I didn't care if we got anyone in return. If either of the remaining guys 2 guys of the 5 guys we received does anything, it will be gravy.

Barnes coming back to life: 5.0 IP, 2 hits, 1 ER, 3 BB, 8 K (7.0 IP, 3 hits, 0 ER, 3 BB, 10 K in his start before that)
His k's have been there all season long. That shows that he has some stuff.

If the Sox deal Barnes for Peavy i will sneak into John Henry's private box and uppercut him....twice.

He's a really skinny guy. Would the second uppercut be necessary?

Well I don't think WMB is enough for Peavy. I feel like they'd add in another prospect. We have a lot of good prospects and I don't see some of them even being touched(Bradley Jr, Cecchini, Boagarts) If not Barnes, I can see Webster being traded. I personally don't want Peavy, but we'll see what happens.

If the White Sox get Middlebrooks, they shouldn't also get one of our top 10 prospects. I'd be comfortable with Middlebrooks and Alex Wilson/Devon Marrero/Brian Johnson. Brentz, Almanzar and Hazelbaker are all eligible for the Rule 5 draft, but I'd make sure we have enough left to package for a reliever or two.

It all depends on who else is on the market. If Peavy is the only big name out there, then expect an overpay. WMB plus Alex Wilson isn't getting it done. At the deadline, you pay a much higher price since you are desperate

You may not be desperate, but I bet the sox are. Buchholz said he might be able to get in 3-4 games before the end of the year. Lester has been pretty up and down. And Lackey is s***ing the bed tonight with less velo than he had had in previous outings. You need one more starter

The way you see the world is just fascinating.

Nice nights for Barnes and Webster:

Barnes (AA): 5.2 IP, 4 hits, 1 ER, 3 BB, 7 K (third good start in a row after a midseason rough patch)

Webster (AAA): 6.0 IP, 3 hits, 1 ER, 1 BB, 12 K

He's a reliever. The sooner they realize this, the better. He reminds me of Betances. Electric arm with amazing stuff, no idea where the f*** he's throwing it. The Yankees finally figured it out and I have a feeling our kid will actually be in the bigs for good soon. Maybe the sox will figure out the same. Put him in the stretch, cut his arsenal down to FB, slider and give him 1 inning stints and watch him develop

Yeah i listened on the radio to Websters game. Its good to see him bounce back these last two outings after a few really poor outings ( in the minors and majors). I mean Webster is still only 23 lots of time to develop still.

Mookie Betts is having a great year.

Beat me to it. Talk about a break out season.

.306/.410/.503 between A and A+. 15 HR, 35 SB, and did I mention he's younger than Bogaerts? Given, he's in high A ball, but he reminds me a lot of Brandon Phillips. Good pop, good speed, excellent defense.

He is a 2B but who knows if he will move off of that position, with Pedey locked up. Maybe a corner OF or maybe trade bait

Betts' defense is pretty awful from what I read.
