Players you have seen before they became famous

Have you guys seen or watched any current MLB Players before they came into the MLB? I find it cool to find out that you knew about that guy before anyone else and watch them become a star.

 

I have seen:

CF AJ Pollock, Diamondbacks - From my town, watched his High School games

OF George Springer, Astros - Went to UConn, went to a few of his games there, was the best player on the team while he was there.

1B/3B Mike Olt, Rangers - Also went to UConn, didn't recognize him until he broke out with the Rangers last year

SP Matt Barnes, Red Sox - Best Pitcher on that UConn team, currently the ace of the Sea Dogs

 

There are probably a few more that I've seen, but I can't think of anyone right now. What about the rest of you?

I watched Derek Jeter several times when he played for the A team here back in the early 90s. Also got to see Cano, in 91' Mariano Rivera was a starter here. Also saw Pettitte and Posada some too.

 

Later on I started going to see some of the AAA teams in the area, got into the Durham Bulls quite a bit. I've gotten to see several guys who are in the bigs play there. Before and after their affiliation with the Rays

I met Josh Beckett on a few different occasions while he was pitching for Brevard County. He was always good to us.

I went to High School about 20 mins up the highway, needless to say there was many a day I skipped school to go watch some games

i played for Youth Service when i was 16....we used watch the 14 yr old division play on the far fields, one team had this skinny(at the time) kid that just hit rockets....had no idea that kid turned out to be Manny Ramirez..
