I can't see Felix coming to Boston. In his contract he has a no-trade clause to big market teams (Boston included) knowing those are the only teams that could to aford to trade for him. He will become a FA after the 2014 season at the age of 28. He will make $20 million in 2014 and I really think he wants to stay in Seattle so he will give them the home discount. For the Sox to sign him after 2014 it would take a miracle. It would take $$$$$, convince him he would like pitching in Boston like Pedro did, and have to out spend the $pankees. Cashman has Seattle on speed dial and calls every 15 minutes seeing if they are ready to trade Felix. I just don't see all of those moons lining up. If just half of the top level arms in our system pan out and you add them to Buchholtz and Lester you would have a pretty good rotation.

Can you imagine the ridiculous amount of scrutiny that would be on Felix if he played for us? You can't blame him for not wanting to come to a big market. Same with Greinke.

Were giving up 3 top 10 prospects.. Bradley, Lavarnway and Iglesias.. And were adding a guy who is coming along (Lester) towards the end of the year, as someone previously posted Lester's last couple of starts.

I think there shopping Lester HEAVY. He's on waivers as well and so is Ellsbury.

Lester is from Washington.. He would love to go back out West.. Same with Ellsbury.

Some people don't seem to get that Seattle will demand prospects that are MLB ready.. We have them- Bradley, Lavarnway and Iglesias. That fills 3 holes for them and you submit them in your lineup and there already a better team.

And Montero will be a DH for years to come. His technique is poor at the catching position. He'll be either primary DH or 1B. If conditioned he could develop to a 3B but thats a long shot as well.

They just drafted a catcher this year in the first round also. They don't want Lavarnway, and still that isn't enough.

Thats already been on the DL 3 times.. And just recently.. kid looks injure prone to say the least..

But hes playing catcher in Single A and has stole 16 bases. Clearly he isn't going to be a catcher at the MLB level.. scouts have him changing positions to either 3B or OF..

Felix has a no-trade clause (All big market teams including the Sox) so he is not getting traded to Sox. Need to start looking at more realistic options if you are looking for a #1 for the rotation. He is a FA after 2014 so he will be in Seattle until at least then.

I'm not sure who you are talking about but the guy i am talking about has zero dl trips and has 13 hr's in 38 games and one stolen base, and won the golden spikes award in 2012 for amatuer player of the year.

He's going to be MLB ready in 2013?

Dude Jack Marder is miles ahead of him.. Again Seattle want prospect players MLB READY IN 2013..

Who is out there for us to grab then as a #1 in FA? Nobody and Buchholz can't be a #1 due to consistent injury problems every year. And Lester can't and won't be a #1 if Bobby V is still here..

I can't believe this silly thread is still going. There is no way the Mariners are trading Hernandez to the Red Sox.

First, he would be the most sought after pitcher in baseball. He would command better prospects than the Red Sox possess. The Sox have a nice group of B-type prospects, but they are behind other teams who will be seeking starting pitching, including the Jays, Rangers, Cards, Royals, and Braves. In fact, the Mariners have better prospects than the Red Sox.

Secondly, the need for just a Hernandez type pitcher has passed. The Sox need more. They need depth in the rotation, a first baseman, shortstop, and at least one outfielder with power. Hernandez would be the cool guy to get, but hardly the smart way to get this team back into contention.

The Sox just cleared some bad contracts out by some kind of miracle. They need to rebuild by making wise choices. Epstein went crazy like a seventh-grade kid trading baseball cards and nearly ruined the franchise. Hernandez won't be coming to Boston and they don't need to be making that kind of trade at this point.

I partially blame myself for the thread continuing. I was just determined to make my point that we will not see that kid in a sox uniform

Hahaha! I am the one who continued this foolishness.

I don't think trading away most of our top prospects/Ellsbury for an ace like Felix is the smartest move. We should be looking at guys like Zimmerman, Morrow, McCarthy, Kennedy, Shields...guys that we won't have to deplete all our prospects to get.

It is all right to have nice dreams about King Felix in a Red Sox uniform, but I hope he stays in Seattle his whole career because if he goes anywhere it will be to the $pankees. Cashman has the Seattle GM on speed dial and calls Seattle every fifteen minutes to see if they are ready to trade Felix. That nice dream could turn into a nightmare if he ends up in the Bronx.

Forget Felix. Can't wait to see that DeLaRosa.

How about Zach Stewart from the Youk deal? He's starting tomorrow.

He'll win the Cy, for sure.

I don't know if he wins it "for sure." Jered Weaver, David Price, and Justin Verlander are all having equally good seasons.

With Ichiro gone, Felix Hernandez is the face of that franchise. They won't, they can't, trade him at this point.

Stewart pitched a one-hit shutout versus the Twins a little less than a year ago.

Watched the Mariners@Twins yesterday... Had to feel a bit sorry for Liam Hendriks, who also threw a complete game (as did Hernandez), yet lost 1-0 to King Felix.
