I can see Aviles being on the team...that he is still for all intents the team's everyday SS is total ********

When you get guys from crap teams like Aviles (Royals) and Melancon (Astros), then you should know they'll still be crap....ugh.

Mike Aviles has to be one of the worst SS in MLB history....my god.

Which is in part why I think the Sox are clueless about what makes a ML everyday SS. I have this recurring nightmare that has all the ML GM's flat on their backs laughing their asses off at Aviles making it as the Sox everyday SS.

Joe just needs to remind Hughes that these are the 2012 Sox. That should straighten him right out.

The unis have Hughes completely flummoxed.

Although, Hughes appears to be insistent on putting baseballs in the few locations where they can hurt him...which is fine by me.

Scutaro was one of the most underrated bad moves of the offseason.

I don't know if the Red Sox overestimated Aviles or Iglesias, or both. Could be that they thought Iglesias would be ready mid season, but he got hurt and was out for about a month.

Still, though, Iglesias is hitting .305 with a .379 OBP in August. What are they waiting on??

I think they view a callup of Iglesias as giving up. And they arent ready to do that just yet. I think sox nation is ready, but once the sox are perceived to have given up on their season, then the seats dont sell out and the business side gets hurt a little

Guys' date=' obviously any HR's the Sox hit here are the cheap kind, no one can hit real moon shots like Russell Martin.[/quote']

where did that come from? Pedey's shot is out of most parks. Funny thing is, it was such a laser it probably would have been a double in Fenway, off the monster

SFF, did you read that s*** from Mike Hazen the other day when we were having a similar discussion on Iggy?

If anything Salty's deepening uselessness should have been predicted by the general dominance of seconf half pitching.

Remy treated Hughes to Salty like this is some sort of anomaly. Right Jerry the same anomaly that Hughes shares with 90% of AL pitchers.

However the way Hughes is pitching he is just aching to give the Sox this game.

I agree that they may think it's viewed as giving up, but I do not understand that in the least.

Sorry but Aviles's .285 OBP and his .675 OPS is not going to be missed. And Iglesias' defense is substantially better.

I've always had a theory that there is a threshold, at around .680 or .675 where, once your OPS drops below that, I don't care what it is because you're nearly an auto out everytime, so if we're going to take a bottomless pit of an OPS, at least give me a glove and a guy who can make productive outs, and take a few walks.

SFF is right...Iggy's call up should just be viewed as replacing a guy in the lineup that is struggling.....at the plate....in the field.....walking and chewing bubble gun at the same time....all the tough stuff.
