Are we really going to start complaining about things that didn't even happen? Can't we just have a nice' date=' happy night and celebrate the win for a couple hours?[/quote']

Is this a first for the season? A happy night when they win?

Tonight was one of the few nights on the season when no good deed went unpunished. Plenty of examples like the game a few weeks ago when Ortiz hurt his Achilles rounding the bases on the go ahead home run.

Cheers to good fortune! :D

Great win for the players. Is this finally the real Carl Crawford?

Maybe they've decided to play for the manager. They have the talent to make the playoffs.

He's finally making an effort to earn his money. They are not ridiculous numbers' date=' because they are only for a month. Ortiz had better than 1.000 OPS for the season.[/quote']

You got to give him some slack. Pujols is hot, too.

Crawford is getting some really good pitches to hit. Would like to see him doing it for a longer period of time especially since I have no idea why so many pitchers are pitching him inside and catching a lotta' plate as well. If he runs into pitchers that are going low and away again I would like to see what happens then.

Agons is now back to being able to work across the plate pretty effectively and that is good to see. However I am left with only one conclusion with regard to Agons and frankly it bothers me.

To me his real issues this year started during that period early this year when he was absolutely insistent that he was going to go to left field. He completely ignored for a period pitches that did not allow him to go to left field and was entirely to focused on pitches that would allow him to go to left. The situation became so exacerbated that for a time Agons was not even able to protect the plate with two strikes. He ended up with two really ugly zones for him. Pitchers would tease him on the outer edge and then just keep going farther and farther outside getting him to chase or they would get him looking out there and bust him inside under the hands. He got caught looking outside constantly by that pitch inside under his hands.

If you notice now, he has worked his way back and is able to handle pitches inside while still being to go the other way when he has a pitch that he can hit that way. But by the same token look how long it took for him to work his way back. I doubt any of Agons early season efforts were a Magadan idea as no hitting coach would recommend that a player put himself in the position AGons was in.

Many a Red Sox player has had to learn that being overly focused on that damned left field wall can often do more damage than good and that may well be what happened to Agons. If that is what happened here I hope he has learned his lesson.

That is big news, because earlier in the season, A-Gon was rolling over those outside pitches and hitting grounders to 2nd. Now he is taking those pitches to the wall and over it.

Is it that his swing is so fluid that it looks slow or does he just not have a lot of bat speed? He may not be pulling balls to RF because he can't. When you see him and Ortiz up close, the difference in bat speed is very noticeable.

Punto is playing 3rd in Tuesday's lineup. WMB is sitting. Why not Ciriaco instead of Punto?

Can't you wait until I make the GT for today? It's kind of early to make it now.

Well it is hard for a hitter to look good if the pitcher can get to that spot under his hands. Earlier this year, AGons could not hit anything inside. Did not have to be in under his hands. He has at least been able to hit balls on the inner third of late. It has been so long since AGons has pulled the ball that I don't even remember what that looks like any more. It would appear that he does have trouble getting around on the inside pitch such that he can pull it. He does have a pretty smooth stroke.
