This is usually the time of the game when the strike zone disappears for Yankee hitters at home.

It has happened before.

81 games a year my friend.

That curve was really nice, some 2 to 7 movement, right on the outside edge. A lefty who tries to pull can never make contact on that.

Ace WAS always the only guy V could go to there and had to stay with him....no choice.

Could not go to nut job Padilla and once Ace got it going, Frank was going to be more of a risk coming in out of the bullpen than staying with Ace was going to be.

We're at .500, we're 4 games back in the wild card with 3 division rivals ahead of us in the standings and a series coming up at home vs Detroit.

I'm not getting my hopes up, and I admit it's very unlikely, but f*** me if I don't think we still have the slightest inkling of a chance.

Really loved seeing Beckett getting riled up. The whole dugout for that matter. Team unity is really what has been missing here.

Fun Fact: Sox are 2-0 since Tito's visit! :-)

Plus we have 3 at home vs Detroit now who's 3 up on us in the wildcard and then 4 at home vs the shittastic Twinkies. 7 games for us to do some serious damage.

Like I said earlier for the all the s*** he takes actually much of it from these ballplayers, that tossing in the 10th was likely the best piece of managing V has done all season long.

Still have no idea what they are doing on the base paths or at the plate although I still think that game where the Sox had two on and nobody out and V tried to bunt with either Punto or Ross bunting into a double play that was followed by somebody running into an out burned V so badly that I think he has been gun shy ever since of trying to manufacture a run with these guys.

They have to go off on a genuine run to get anything done. They need to win 10 of the next 12....something like that and then they still need to win like crazy after that and they actually have to play like they care. They will very likely have to do it with the pieces they have now...maybe even fewer cause management is not going to spend prospects to bring more guys in to play with this crew of knuckleheads. Seeing that throw from Crawford...he may well be done for the year shortly.

It is still all right in front of them although they have squandered away 100 games of the season and I don't know why they should suddenly play any differently now. Believe it or not, what might save them, what might turn this thing around might finally be keeping Ciriaco at SS or keeping Ciriaco up here to play in various positions and bring Iggy up. That play that Pedro made early in the game is just the kind of play that has been lacking, the kind of play that Aviles could not make if his life depended on it. A plus defender at SS gives them a guy that can pull their asses out of the fire, a guy that can take a batted ball that has runs for the opposition written all over it and turn it into a 3rd out of the inning or a DP. In addition Aviles does not even make the plays that any SS should make so Ciriaco or Iggy would also make a big difference there. They need to feel like more things can go right for them in a baseball game and a plus defender at SS gives them that.

I don't want to see Aviles at SS again this season unless everybody else is DEAD.
