Walking Martin and letting Miller throw to Ichiro could've been an interesting option. Ichiro is only 1 from 8 with a single against Miller, and Ichiro is only .238 / .244 / .266 this year against lefties. Something to think about.

Edit: I started writing that before Aceves ate his balls.

You're asking a Red Sox manager to manage? They're only trained to change pitchers every heartbeat after the 6th inning. Especially ones that are goin' good.

we pay 142 and the f***ing guy cant steal a base

And to think of how many he stole against us over the years.

He was a patented Red Sox killer.

Problem being that he still is one.

The three outs in that inning were a popup, a lazy fly ball and a little squib that didn't get out of the infield.

He steals, the only difference is he's stranded at second or third.

For the love of fruit people, there's enough actual stuff to complain about you don't need to COMPETELY MAKE **** UP too.

Like it or not Aceves is your closer. Bringing in your closer in a 1 run game when your big lefty has already gone 1 1/3 and had just given up a big double is the right move.

Aceves is crapshoot with runners in scoring position. I wouldn't have done that. I know it lefty vs eighty matchup but still would have kept miller for one more out

he steals 2ND, lots of thing could change. Forces the issues, bad throw get him to 3rd. That was his game. $142M stinking garbage.

Now the question is how they let the Yanks walkoff. A hanging curveball for a homerun? Or maybe a throw to the plate that Salty can't catch?

A really cheap broken bat pop up seeing eye home run.

I think CC really blew his arm. This is the only alternative. Give him the rest of the year off, maybe he'll come back to be a fraction of his old self.

You're asking them to give an intentional pass to a hitter below the Mendoza line.

In a situation where a single is all it takes.

In order to face Ichiro.

I dunno dude, I'd have to say the chances that one burns you are just as high as the other way.

This team is laughably bad.

No, "Snakes on a Plane" is laughably bad. "Holla Back Gurl" is laughably bad. The Red Sox are somewhere between "painfully bad" and "I wonder how hot the melon baller needs to be to remove my eyes without brain damage".

maybe the trainer told V no stealing for CC.

Crawford stole 3 bases his first game back. 1 base since then. Maybe somebody reminded him he plays for the Red Sox.

Sometimes you gotta be Tony Larussa.

See above about making **** up.

You'rte writing a fantasy story. Have fun with that. Back here at the actual ballgame, it made literally no difference whatsoever whether Crawford stole that base or not.

If we do lose we lost it in the 6th when we squandered that opportunity to score the 3rd run of the game.

Although I completely agree with Oral. What the f*** was Miller doing playing the grinning idiot in the dugout after his stint along with the rest of them doing about the same thing. No intensity...no desire to win....nothing but a bunch of ********. If they win tonight they will be lucky to do it and I just don't think it will mean anything anyway. If you can't be into this game, if you can be that easily distracted from this game, in the 8th inning of a squeaker in Yankee Stadium...Holy s***....you have already packed it in.

And give your entire team roids?

Not sure how that's relevant, but OK.

The fact is --this team looks EXACTLY like the team that pissed its pants last September.

They changed manager and GM, but didn't really change the manager and GM. Nothing has changed.

No reason he should be a statue standing there. Just run, if he is caught, so what. Forces it. Makes something happen.

He did things with his baserunners that made pitchers cry into their pillow.

Then maybe the problem runs deeper than whose name shows up in the newspaper as leader of the team.

Maybe the rot is deeper than that -- to the point that it doesn't make one freaking difference who the manager and GM are.

Yeah but just tonight at least. For this team to win a series against these cornholes in their band box? We are sooooo close.
