The Rangers will not get by the Angels..

the Rangers have the most complete team in baseball. I don't see any team beating them in a 5-7 game series, the offense can shred any pitcher on any given night, and the rotation and bullpen generally shuts it down well enough.

Rangers won't win world series though, NL has home field advantage.

Yanks recently found out Gardner needs season ending surgery so they went out and got a player in Ichiro to replace his speed and defense.

Who can't get on base anymore to use his speed....

Their hitting is insane: Trout, Pujols, Trumbo, Kendrick, and Texas cannot compete with Weaver, Wilson and Haren. If they get another pitcher, they we be unbelievable.

At worst we get a defensive upgrade and some speed. At best, we get a guy who shows he has one last gasp before retirement. Mitchell will end up starting some games for them, but his future was limited here

Look, I'm not necessarily saying he's going to suck, but holy crap, take of the Yankees goggles for a second. "A defensive upgrade and some speed" is not the "at worst". "At worst", you get a guy clearly on the decline who barely gets on base and can't hit more than singles. "At worst" you get a guy who performs so badly that he has to be benched. There is no way you can say the "at worst" scenario with this guy is a positive thing. I'm not at all saying he WILL suck, in fact I think Yankee Stadium will do him well, but don't act like there is no way this could possibly go wrong. Every time someone thinks that you end up with the Titanic or the Hindenburg or Godfather III.

It's Jacko. Ichiro is awful if he can't get hits. Yankees stadium isn't going to do him good, because he's a guy who slaps balls (so he'll fit in well in New York anyways) to get hits. His career is noticeably in decline, and he should have retired already. He might have had a time where he had 230 hits every year, but he's been on a downward trend.

Ichiro is the kind of guy that only cares about himself. If HE gets a multi-hit game HE is happy. Hes been losing in Seattle for years. At age 38 there isnt anything much he brings the Yanks other than a name. Hes been in this damn country for over 10 years and the ********** can't speak English. Even my brother, a Seattle fan is tired of him....yanks didn't get much....nothing to worry about.

And my mistake calling you Dutchy, you're obviously BOY. Dutchy isn't that stupid, annoying or full of s***.

Yep. And gave up trash for him, right? Also Ichiro's road numbers are much better than his home numbers, naturally.

He still has his facts essentially straight. What you're pushing isn't fact. Most people are whining about him being on the Yanks because he was so likeable until now.

Anyways, don't be a homer Div. He blows right now, and he's a singles hitter. Now he can't get hits. Its not about the pitches he gets, Ichiro is washed up.

He's still a gold glover defensively though. Despite his offensive struggles, he has a 1.8 WAR this year-- that's how good his defense is. He's also hitting almost .300 outside of Seattle's pitcher park. I think it is pretty well understood that once he gets of there he'll start hitting big time.

There's also generally a premium on franchise players-- the 2 million the Mariners saved in this trade, they'll lose in fans at the stadium and at home. It really is a terrible trade for them.

I meant at worst we get a defensive upgrade and some speed, leaving the fact that at worst we get no offense. Sorry for not clarifying

He is hitting .296 away from Safeco, but his game isnt power, so I dont know if that really means anything. Regardless, this is the perfect scenario for him. Be in a lineup where pitchers will have to throw to him playing half his games at a field catered to lefty hitters where a liner to right is a homerun. If he cannot succeed in this scenario, then he is truly done

Their rotation lacks an ace, which will hurt them considerably. Wilson helped more than you know the last 2 seasons. Harrison is their best version of an ace, but he's really a contact pitcher a la a Nova or Kuroda type. I think their offense will need to be hot to win it all. To be honest with you, the Yankee pitching is going to be the deepest assuming Pettitte is back and we dont suffer any more injuries. Our pen will also be deep, even if Mo doesnt make it back. And our offense is nothing to scoff about. For the first time in awhile, I actually think the Yankees are the best all around team, and this is after looking old and dead after the first month. We shall see which teams are ready and healthy come October, but I think we might do it this yr

edit: And their best statistical pitcher just got lost for the yr in Colby Lewis.

Just saw an interesting stat on Ichiro. He has a career high 26.1% line drive percentage and a career low .279BABIP. His career BABIP is .349. He has been incredibly unlucky to this point
